Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the optas (passive) behavior of students during the learning process in class VIIIB of MTs Jamilurrahman Yogyakarta. The phenomenon of students who tend to remain silent, avoid asking questions, and show little participation is one of the common challenges teachers face in creating an effective and interactive classroom environment. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with primary data sources consisting of students and teachers from class VIIIB. Data were collected through open-ended interviews comprising six questions for students and five questions for teachers. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that most students feel bored, shy, lack self-confidence, and are afraid of making mistakes during classroom activities. These emotional barriers lead them to remain silent and avoid expressing their opinions. From the teacher’s perspective, the students’ level of participation remains low due to both internal factors such as low motivation and self-confidence, and external factors such as limited two-way interaction between teacher and students.

Abstract

This study examines how non-conventional communicative performances construct perceived authenticity in TikTok endorsement content. Using Krippendorff’s qualitative content analysis, the study analyzes verbal and non-verbal communication strategies in high-engagement endorsement videos produced by the Indonesian influencer Tante Lala. Findings indicate that regional dialects, heightened vocal intensity, and theatrical kinesics function as symbolic resources that negotiate authenticity and intimacy with audiences. These communicative performances blur the boundaries between commercial persuasion and interpersonal interaction, generating parasocial relationships that enhance persuasive effectiveness. The study contributes to symbolic interactionism by demonstrating how authenticity in influencer marketing is socially constructed through continuous symbolic negotiation in digital environments.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that is currently a public health challenge, especially at the village level. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and insight of mothers of toddlers regarding stunting prevention through an understanding of appropriate parenting patterns and healthy environmental management. The service was held in Madusari Village, Secang District, Magelang Regency. The outreach was carried out using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving Posyandu cadres and mothers of children aged one to three years. The implementation method included a preparation stage, implementation of outreach through interactive lectures, discussions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments . The results of the outreach showed an increase in the average knowledge score of participants from 88.2 in the pre-test to 95.2 in the post-test , indicating an increase in participants' understanding of stunting prevention efforts. Thus, this outreach activity has proven effective as a means of public health education and can encourage efforts to accelerate stunting reduction at the village level by increasing the knowledge and insight of mothers of toddlers.
