Abstract

This article examines the need for a new learning paradigm for Generation Alpha and Generation Beta, who grow up in a rapidly evolving digital environment that significantly shapes their thinking patterns, learning behaviors, and educational challenges in Indonesia particularly the persistent low performance in literacy and numeracy as reflected in PISA results. The purpose of this study is to conceptually explore how deep learning integrated with the principles of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning within Indonesia’s education policy can serve as a relevant pedagogical approach for digital-native generations, while also identifying its points of convergence and implications for Islamic education. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes current research on generational characteristics, deep learning theory, the Merdeka Curriculum framework, and classical Islamic scholarly traditions on the ethics of seeking knowledge. The findings reveal that Generation Alpha tends to exhibit shorter attention spans and higher digital dependency, while Generation Beta emerges as AI natives who require more contextual and reflective learning experiences. Deep learning offers a framework that strengthens metacognition, mental presence, meaning-making, and engaging learning experiences. Furthermore, the principles of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning show strong alignment with the Islamic concepts of tahd?d al-qashd, ?u??r al-qalb, riy??at al-nafs, and mu??sabah within classical Islamic pedagogy. This article concludes that deep learning has the potential to enhance the quality of learning for digital generations while simultaneously reinforcing Islamic spirituality and character formation when implemented integratively, contextually, and with a transformative learner-centered orientation.

Abstract

This study examines the two fundamental dimensions of Qur’anic revelation as reflected in QS. Al-‘Alaq (1–5) and QS. ‘Abasa (1–10) and analyzes their relevance for contemporary Islamic education. The primary aim is to elucidate how revelation functions simultaneously as an epistemological foundation for intellectual development and as a moral guide for ethical and humanistic formation. Employing a qualitative library research design, the study analyzes the selected verses through content analysis using a thematic (maudhu‘i) tafsir approach, supported by classical and contemporary exegetical sources and scholarly literature on Islamic education. The findings indicate that QS. Al-‘Alaq emphasizes literacy, learning, and knowledge acquisition grounded in divine consciousness, while QS. ‘Abasa highlights moral sensitivity, equality, empathy, and respect for human dignity within educational interactions. Together, these revelations articulate a holistic, integrative model of Islamic education that unites intellect, spirituality, and character formation. The study implies that contemporary Islamic education should integrate cognitive excellence with ethical cultivation to address modern challenges such as moral disorientation and technocratic learning. However, the study is limited by its reliance on textual analysis and its focus on two Qur’anic passages. Future research is recommended to include empirical studies and broader Qur’anic themes to enhance practical applicability across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in family communication patterns, particularly between parents and children, which have impacted the process of Islamic religious education within the family. This study aims to analyze parent-child communication patterns in the digital parenting era and examine the role of family communication in fostering harmonious Islamic religious education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study. Data were obtained through documentation studies from journals, books, and various relevant scientific sources, then analyzed using content analysis and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results show that the development of digital technology affects the quality of family communication, particularly the reduction in face-to-face interaction and emotional closeness between parents and children. In these conditions, digital parenting becomes an important approach that positions parents as guides, supervisors, and role models in the use of technology. Furthermore, open, compassionate communication based on Islamic values has been proven to strengthen the internalization of religious values and create family harmony. This study contributes to the development of Islamic Religious Education studies by integrating the concepts of family communication, digital parenting, and Islamic values as a relevant communication model in the digital era.
