Abstract

Fish farming is an aquaculture activity to maintain fish from larvae to become economic size with providing profit and maintaining of fish population. Analysis of the problems faced by tilapia in the flowing pond system needs to be carried out because it will focus on solving problems. In this study, the analysis used was descriptive qualitative method, where the data came from respondents who were entrepreneurs of tilapia farming. The data obtained from the interviews were divided into three theme groups, first, a discussion of water sources, second, concerning cultivation systems, third, concerning market and capital. The results indicate that the source of cultivated water has no significant problems, some respondents stated that the watervang dam irrigation water source was closed for repair in 2018 for five months, it was stopped for one cycle of tilapia farm activation. The aquaculture system used is still a traditional system with little technology used, the main problem is feed price and the monopoly carried out by "Bos Pakan". The average respondents is owning pond or workers, they just buy tilapia fingerling, when feed and the market is regulated by the partner “boss of feed. This condition make selling price of fish and the price of feed can monopolized by partner “bos pakan”. Suggestion is needs regulation from governments to manage this problem.

Abstract

Fish is one of the commodities needed by the community to meet the needs of animal protein which has high nutritional value, so that treatment is needed to maintain the quality of the fish so that it is still alive and fresh when marketed. The pandemic period becomes an obstacle to maintaining marketing patterns in the regions so that to support the economy and welfare of fish farmers, marketing is carried out by distributing them to other areas using transportation patterns. Transportation is a means for fish farmers to market fish to consumers. The purpose of this research is to describe the transportation pattern of shipping the harvested fish to the area, the process of keeping the fish alive, how long it takes to bring the fish to their destination. The method used in this research is a case study method and sampling using secondary data. The results of the research obtained information to distribute the yields of goldfish cultivation in Musi Rawas Regency using a pick-up car which has a carrying capacity of about 800 kg. the media used is a plastic fish bag using oxygen. The physiological condition of the fish after traveling about 7 hours is still categorized as very good, seen from the active movements of the fish, as well as the morphology of the fish such as eyes, scales, and giblets. The selling price of goldfish after reaching consumers is around Rp. 28,000 / kg . The price of fish is not always stable in the market, one of the causes is high feed prices, weather factors and distribution in the field

Abstract

Fishery activities especially inland fishery is highly affected by community purchasing power. This interaction is seemly looked clearly due to fish becomes one of daily main protein of people. Happening the pandemic of Covid-19 starts in the middle March 2020 in Indonesia directly affects the social activities of people. This research was aimed at analysing the economic impacts resulted in by the Covid-19 pandemic on inland fishery aquaculture in Lubuklinggau City. Data were gathered on September to October 2020 using interviews. Respondents in this research were defined purposively consisting of fish pond owners and aquaculture practitioners of three main fish commodity in this city such as tilapia, carp, and catfish. The gathered data were qualitatively analysed to confirm descriptively the real condition in this city. The results of this study indicate that the inland fish production in the city during the Covid-19 pandemic is till normal. However, the fish commodity demands experience decrease significantly both fresh and life fish. This decreasing demands directly influence the selling price of fish in the fishermen level. The main causes of this event due to the elimination of crowded social activities like an activity gathered mass and face-to-face education activities. A decrease of selling price, in 18% of the Covid-19 on the normal prices before the pandemic happening, is burdensome highly on the aquaculture fishermen in Lubuklingau City. The lower peak of this decreasing price occurred on September 2020 and this condition would be still taken place until the end of this year. The proper policy is needed in order to maintain the aquaculture activities in this city going forward.

Abstract

Nile Tilapias (Oreochomis niloticus) have been cultured and being a fresh water fishery commodity for a long time in Musi Rawas Regency. The optimal growth of this fish plays a significant role for fishermen due to relating on costs and harvest periods. This research was aimed at analysing the length-weight relationship as well as condition factor of the tilapia reared in a soil-pond. It was conducted on December 2020 at the Fishery and Environmental Engineering Laboratory of Bina Insan University, Lubuklinggau. Samples of the fish acquired from commercial fish-soil-pond culture at A Widodo Village, Tugumulyo Sub-district, Musi Rawas Regency. Those fish consisted of five weight-class categories namely each kilogram containing 8 fish, 7 fish, 6 fish, 5 fish, and 3 fish, respectively. Data of the fish were analysed for length, weight, sexual characteristics, sex ratio, and gonadal mature level as well as the condition factor. Data were tabulated and figured in Microsoft Excel. Determining the fish growth pattern used SPSS Software. Results of this research indicate averages of length and weight for all fish (29 individuals) are 20.72 cm and 162.72 grams, respectively. Dominantly sex of all fish is male, and a ratio of female and male is 0.380. The identified female fish are in gonadal mature level 2-3. The male fish, in common, are in a weight of 7-8 fish in a kilogram. The growth pattern of fish is negative allometric (coefficient regression of 1.3556) denoting the length grows quicker than weight. The condition factor is about 1.828 represents the cultured fish were categorizing into fatty fish.

Abstract

Glass eel is a seed of eel fish including diadromus fish group, when it spawns into the deep sea, and migrates to river mouths for enlargement and growth. The initial phase of development starts from leptocephalus which is shaped like a leaf floating in the ocean and develops into a glass eel phase with a body shape resembling a stem, transparent and not yet pigmentation, will migrate anadromous to fresh waters through river mouths. It is feared that continuous catching of Glass eel will disturb this area, which can disrupt the living habitat of this seed. This study aims to determine the morphology of the glass eel fry. The method used in this study is field sampling using betel nets, and a description of the morphology of the glass eel presented in the data graph. Field observations obtained data on the length of the glass eel obtained ranging from 5-7 cm from the distribution of 3 different stations, stations 1 and 3 are locations where glass eel sizes are found in large numbers with body morphology that is still transparent and there is no color pigmentation on the body. The fertility level of the estuary waters affects the distribution of the glass eel.
