Abstract

Early childhood mental health frequently receives insufficient attention in school-based learning activities, despite its fundamental role in children's socio-emotional development. One intervention that can be implemented to support mental health is the role-playing method. This study aims to analyze the impact of the role-playing method on the mental health of Group B children at Brang Ene 2 State Kindergarten, West Sumbawa Regency. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. Data were collected using structured observation sheets. The research sample consisted of 15 children in Group B. Data analysis was performed using the Paired Samples T-test via SPSS 30.0 for Windows. The results indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, where the average score increased from 50.27 to 69.87. Hypothesis testing yielded a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 (p < 0.05), demonstrating that the role-playing method has a significant effect on children's mental health. Consequently, role-playing serves as an effective alternative instructional strategy to foster mental health development in early childhood education settings.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in education encourages the use of virtual laboratories as an interactive learning medium to overcome limitations of practical facilities and improve learning quality. This study aims to examine the effect of virtual laboratory use on student motivation and learning interest through a literature review method. The focus of this study is to analyze the results of previous research related to the effectiveness of virtual laboratories in creating interactive and meaningful learning. This study involved the analysis of 26 relevant scientific articles published between 2014 and 2023. The research stages included literature searches, selection based on inclusion criteria, content analysis, and synthesis of research results. The results of the study indicate that the use of virtual laboratories consistently increases student motivation and learning interest through interactive, visual, and flexible learning experiences published between 2014 and 2023. However, there are limitations such as dependence on technology and a lack of direct practical experience. Thus, virtual laboratories have great potential as an innovative learning medium that is effective in increasing student motivation and learning interest.

Abstract

Mental health awareness is a crucial issue in the higher education ecosystem, given the high academic, social, and personal pressures experienced by students. This study aims to analyze the level of student awareness of mental health in higher education through a survey titled "Mental Health Matters." The research method used a quantitative approach, distributing questionnaires to students from various study programs. Data were analyzed descriptively to describe students' knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions regarding mental health and the importance of accessing campus counseling services. The survey results indicate that most respondents have a good understanding of mental health, but still encounter barriers such as social stigma and a lack of openness in seeking professional help. These findings emphasize the need to improve mental health literacy, strengthen social support within the campus environment, and the role of higher education institutions in providing more accessible services. This research is expected to provide a basis for developing mental health promotion programs in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of academic activities on students' stress levels and mental health. The background of this study stems from the increasing academic demands that include assignment loads, tight class schedules, pressure to achieve grades, and various organizational and social responsibilities that students must face. The research method used a quantitative approach with a survey design, conducted by distributing a Google Form questionnaire to 60 respondents from various faculties at the University of Mataram and its surrounding areas. The research instrument consisted of an academic stress scale that included indicators of assignment demands, class schedules, grade pressure, time management skills, and mental well-being. The results showed that academic stress levels were in the moderately high category, with the highest average score for the tight class schedule indicator (4.03). The most dominant factors affecting student mental health were the large number of assignments and strict academic demands, followed by time management difficulties, economic pressure, and the pressure to achieve grades. Furthermore, social support was recorded as still low, exacerbating the academic stress experienced. These findings indicate the need for an evaluation of the learning system and strengthening counseling services to improve student mental well-being. This research is expected to serve as a reference for universities in designing more humane academic policies and supporting student mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of PhET simulations assisted by students’ worksheets as an interactive learning medium for Hooke's Law. This study used a descriptive observation method with 32 students in grade XI Mathematics and Natural Sciences at SMAN 5 Mataram. Data collection techniques included observing student activities during the learning process and documenting the worksheet results. The results of the observations indicated that the use of PhET simulations assisted by worksheets increased student engagement and activeness during the learning process. Students appeared more enthusiastic in conducting virtual experiments, discussing, and analyzing the relationship between force and the increase in spring length. Furthermore, the virtual simulations helped students visualize the abstract concept of Hooke's Law, making the material easier to understand compared to conventional learning. The use of worksheets also helped students make observations and draw conclusions more systematically. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the use of PhET simulations assisted by worksheets can be an effective alternative learning medium for increasing student engagement and understanding of physics concepts in Hooke's Law.

Abstract

Physics is often perceived as a challenging subject by students due to the abstract nature of its concepts and the limited availability of physical laboratory facilities in schools. This study aims to examine student engagement, learning activity, and conceptual understanding through the integration of the PhET interactive virtual laboratory (Pendulum Lab) paired with guided student worksheets on the topic of the simple pendulum. A descriptive observational design was employed, involving students at State Senior High School 1 Praya Tengah. Data were collected using observational sheets to evaluate learning activities and document analysis of the students' group worksheets. The findings indicate that incorporating PhET simulations enhanced interactivity, heightened student enthusiasm, and enabled students to visualize abstract physics concepts more concretely. Guided by structured worksheets, students were able to independently analyze inter-variable relationships, confirming that string length and gravitational acceleration directly affect the pendulum’s period, whereas the mass of the bob has no effect. The study concludes that pairing PhET simulations with guided student worksheets provides an effective, innovative instructional tool to simplify abstract concepts and offers a viable alternative to overcome physical laboratory constraints in secondary education.
