Abstract

This study examines the application of outdoor learning methods as an alternative to learning in elementary schools that have been dominated by passive conventional methods. Conventional methods that focus on lectures and written assignments have proven to be less effective in encouraging active involvement, creativity, and the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and collaboration. Outdoor learning offers a dynamic learning paradigm with direct experience outside the classroom, which not only increases students' motivation and conceptual understanding, but also strengthens social skills and environmental awareness. This approach allows for cross-disciplinary integration and contextual learning that is relevant to the needs of the 21st century. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with observations, interviews, and documentation studies on teachers, students, and principals who have implemented outdoor learning. The results show that outdoor learning is able to improve the quality of learning through meaningful real experiences, strengthen students' emotional and cognitive involvement, and support the development of soft skills. However, challenges in the form of compiling assessment indicators and limited facilities need to be overcome. In conclusion, outdoor learning is an innovative pedagogical strategy that is effective in preparing students to become holistic individuals who are adaptive and ecologically and socially responsible...

Abstract

This article investigates the intersection of literature and tourism as multidimensional avenues for psychological healing, educational growth, and cultural continuity. Drawing on a multidisciplinary review of studies published between 2010 and 2025, it analyzes bibliotherapy and healing tourism through the lenses of psychology, education, and cultural studies. Literature, particularly in the form of bibliotherapy, fosters catharsis, emotional regulation, and resilience by allowing readers to process trauma and reframe personal experiences. Tourism, especially wellness and cultural tourism, provides embodied experiences of renewal and identity reformation through intercultural encounters, heritage rituals, and narrative journeys. When combined, literature and tourism function as complementary narrative pathways inner journeys through texts and outer journeys through travel that cultivate empathy, reinforce cultural identity, and enhance socio-emotional learning. The study argues for integrating these modalities into interdisciplinary practices that connect mental health, education, and cultural preservation, offering a holistic model of well-being adaptable to diverse global and local contexts.

Abstract

This article examines the social and cultural history of Indonesia by tracing the dynamic relationship between identity, tradition, and transformation from the colonial period to the present. Using a multidisciplinary historiographical approach, it analyzes literature, oral traditions, and cultural practices that reveal Indonesia’s diverse historical trajectory. The discussion highlights how colonial encounters restructured social organization while encouraging hybrid cultural forms; how oral traditions and ritual performances safeguarded linguistic and communal identities; and how modernization, urbanization, and globalization have introduced both opportunities and tensions in maintaining heritage. Religion emerges as a unifying force that reinforces solidarity across Indonesia’s plural society, while collective memory and cultural nationalism continue to negotiate the balance between national unity and regional diversity. By foregrounding these cultural dimensions, the study demonstrates that Indonesia’s historical narrative is not merely political or economic but deeply rooted in lived experiences, enabling the nation to preserve and adapt its identity in an era of constant change.

Abstract

The post-truth era has fundamentally altered the information landscape, creating unique challenges and opportunities for the formation of social solidarity among millennial generations who rely heavily on social media as their primary mode of communication and community building. This study examined the role of social media in shaping social solidarity among millennials under conditions characterized by widespread disinformation, echo chambers, and political polarization. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted, analyzing 20 peer-reviewed studies published between 2021 and 2024 that addressed social media use, millennial behavior, solidarity formation, and post-truth dynamics. Studies were retrieved from multiple academic databases using structured search protocols. Results: Social media platforms, particularly Instagram, WhatsApp, and YouTube, served as primary channels for millennial social solidarity expression, including hashtag activism, peer endorsement, and digital community building. Post-truth phenomena, including fake news, echo chambers, and political polarization, simultaneously threatened and paradoxically reinforced in-group solidarity mechanisms. Influencers and digital opinion leaders played a mediating role in shaping collective values and community norms. Counter-solidarity effects were most pronounced in politically charged contexts. Conclusions: Social media operates as a dual-edged mechanism in millennial social solidarity formation during the post-truth era. Strategic digital literacy interventions, platform governance reforms, and community-based trust-building are essential to harness the solidarity-promoting potential of social media while mitigating divisive forces rooted in disinformation and polarization.

Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies into everyday urban life has fundamentally reshaped the patterns, quality, and dynamics of social interaction in urban communities. This study examined the transformation of social interaction among urban populations in Indonesia amid the proliferation of AI-driven platforms, smart city infrastructure, and digital communication systems. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a quantitative survey of 480 urban residents across five Indonesian cities with qualitative interviews involving 32 key informants. Social interaction transformation was assessed across five dimensions: communication modality, social trust, community cohesion, digital inclusion, and civic participation. Results indicate a significant shift toward digitally mediated social interaction, with 68.7% of respondents reporting that online interaction has become their primary mode of daily communication. AI-enabled platforms significantly predicted urban social cohesion (β=0.521, p<0.001), while digital literacy moderated the relationship between AI adoption and positive social outcomes. Alarming disparities were identified between high-income metropolitan areas and lower-income urban peripheries, reflecting a persistent digital divide that exacerbates social inequality. The metaverse, algorithmic governance, and AI chatbots emerged as novel interaction environments that simultaneously democratize and fragment social engagement. These findings contribute to an emerging theoretical framework positioning digital transformation as an interaction-driven nexus between society, technology, and urban governance.

Abstract

Rapid digital transformation has profoundly reshaped adolescent dietary behaviors, particularly through increased exposure to fast food advertising on social media platforms, food delivery applications, and screen-based sedentary lifestyles. This review examined the relationship between fast food consumption patterns and nutritional status among adolescents in the context of the contemporary digital lifestyle. A systematic narrative review of 20 peer-reviewed studies published between 2021 and 2024 was conducted. Findings revealed that frequent fast food and ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption were consistently associated with elevated body mass index (BMI), overweight, and obesity across multiple countries and age groups. Digital platforms amplified consumption through targeted food marketing, advergaming, and influencer endorsements that disproportionately promoted energy-dense, nutrient-poor products. Emotional eating, triggered by digital stress and social comparison, further reinforced unhealthy dietary patterns. The COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns demonstrated the acute impact of screen time intensification on adolescent weight gain. Evidence also indicates that neighborhood food environments and access to ultra-processed foods act as structural determinants of dietary quality. In conclusion, fast food consumption in the digital era constitutes a multi-layered nutritional risk for adolescents. Effective interventions require integrated strategies encompassing digital food marketing regulation, nutrition education, school-based programs, and supportive food environment policies.
