Abstract

This study examines the application of outdoor learning methods as an alternative to learning in elementary schools that have been dominated by passive conventional methods. Conventional methods that focus on lectures and written assignments have proven to be less effective in encouraging active involvement, creativity, and the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and collaboration. Outdoor learning offers a dynamic learning paradigm with direct experience outside the classroom, which not only increases students' motivation and conceptual understanding, but also strengthens social skills and environmental awareness. This approach allows for cross-disciplinary integration and contextual learning that is relevant to the needs of the 21st century. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with observations, interviews, and documentation studies on teachers, students, and principals who have implemented outdoor learning. The results show that outdoor learning is able to improve the quality of learning through meaningful real experiences, strengthen students' emotional and cognitive involvement, and support the development of soft skills. However, challenges in the form of compiling assessment indicators and limited facilities need to be overcome. In conclusion, outdoor learning is an innovative pedagogical strategy that is effective in preparing students to become holistic individuals who are adaptive and ecologically and socially responsible...

Abstract

This article investigates the intersection of literature and tourism as multidimensional avenues for psychological healing, educational growth, and cultural continuity. Drawing on a multidisciplinary review of studies published between 2010 and 2025, it analyzes bibliotherapy and healing tourism through the lenses of psychology, education, and cultural studies. Literature, particularly in the form of bibliotherapy, fosters catharsis, emotional regulation, and resilience by allowing readers to process trauma and reframe personal experiences. Tourism, especially wellness and cultural tourism, provides embodied experiences of renewal and identity reformation through intercultural encounters, heritage rituals, and narrative journeys. When combined, literature and tourism function as complementary narrative pathways inner journeys through texts and outer journeys through travel that cultivate empathy, reinforce cultural identity, and enhance socio-emotional learning. The study argues for integrating these modalities into interdisciplinary practices that connect mental health, education, and cultural preservation, offering a holistic model of well-being adaptable to diverse global and local contexts.

Abstract

This article examines the social and cultural history of Indonesia by tracing the dynamic relationship between identity, tradition, and transformation from the colonial period to the present. Using a multidisciplinary historiographical approach, it analyzes literature, oral traditions, and cultural practices that reveal Indonesia’s diverse historical trajectory. The discussion highlights how colonial encounters restructured social organization while encouraging hybrid cultural forms; how oral traditions and ritual performances safeguarded linguistic and communal identities; and how modernization, urbanization, and globalization have introduced both opportunities and tensions in maintaining heritage. Religion emerges as a unifying force that reinforces solidarity across Indonesia’s plural society, while collective memory and cultural nationalism continue to negotiate the balance between national unity and regional diversity. By foregrounding these cultural dimensions, the study demonstrates that Indonesia’s historical narrative is not merely political or economic but deeply rooted in lived experiences, enabling the nation to preserve and adapt its identity in an era of constant change.
