Abstract

Olahraga merupakan aktivitas penting yang tidak hanya berfungsi menjaga kesehatan, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pembinaan prestasi. Penyelenggaraan Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XXI 2024 Aceh–Sumut membutuhkan dukungan informasi cuaca yang akurat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji peran Stasiun Meteorologi Kelas I Sultan Iskandar Muda dalam mendukung pelaksanaan PON XXI 2024 di Aceh. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis data instrumen meteorologi, meliputi citra satelit Himawari-9, Automatic Weather Station (AWS), dan Meteo Factory. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Stasiun Meteorologi berperan signifikan melalui pemantauan cuaca real-time, pelaksanaan Operasi Modifikasi Cuaca (OMC) yang berhasil mengurangi intensitas hujan saat pembukaan PON, serta penggunaan Wave Drifter untuk memantau parameter cuaca dan kelautan. Dukungan ini berkontribusi penting terhadap kelancaran dan keberhasilan penyelenggaraan PON XXI 2024. ABSTRACT Sports are an important activity that not only serves to maintain physical health but also functions as a means of developing athletic achievement. The implementation of the 21st National Sports Week (PON XXI) 2024 in Aceh–North Sumatra requires accurate weather information support. This study aims to examine the role of the Sultan Iskandar Muda Class I Meteorological Station in supporting the implementation of PON XXI 2024 in Aceh. The study employs a qualitative approach through field observations, interviews, and analysis of meteorological instrument data, including Himawari-9 satellite imagery, Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), and Meteo Factory. The results show that the Meteorological Station plays a significant role through real-time weather monitoring, the implementation of Weather Modification Operations (WMO) which successfully reduced rainfall intensity during the opening ceremony, and the use of Wave Drifters to monitor weather and marine parameters. This support contributes substantially to the smooth and successful organization of PON XXI 2024.
