Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline in congregational awareness to attend worship, particularly Sunday services at GKSI Pondok Natai congregation. Data from 2024–2025 indicate a decrease in attendance of up to 45%, with approximately 70% of the congregation working in the plantation sector, where the nature of the work requires activity on Saturdays and Sundays. This condition has affected the commitment of members to attend worship. Therefore, this study aims to develop strategies for church leaders to increase congregational awareness in prioritizing Sunday services without neglecting their professional responsibilities. The research employed a qualitative approach using participatory observation and literature study methods. The program was implemented over four months through systematic stages, including preparation and permission, problem identification, program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up. The findings reveal a significant improvement in congregational awareness, as well as an increase in the number of members attending Sunday services. The strategies applied included home visits to church members, the formation of fellowship groups, strengthening spiritual mentoring, and actively involving members in ministry. These efforts produced a fundamental transformation in how the congregation prioritized spiritual matters amidst the heavy demands of work. In addition, the program had a positive impact on both spiritual life and the balance with their occupational responsibilities.
