Abstract

Students in higher education are an important target audience for AI education because they need to develop the skills needed to effectively handle AI in their careers. Before we can provide appropriate AI teaching or education to students, data is needed to determine the extent of students' knowledge about AI. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of students' knowledge about AI and what variables could be related to it. The research method used a cross-sectional study design with 132 students and the data were analyzed using the Chi Square test, Mann Whitney, and logistic regression. The results showed that 66.7% of students had high AI knowledge. The results of the bivariate test showed that the independent variable related to the level of AI knowledge in students is the status of AI use. While in the multivariate test, the variables related to the level of AI knowledge are gender and major.

Abstract

Urbanization and the rapid growth of vehicle populations have led to severe parking space scarcity, traffic congestion, and increased security risks in public facilities. Conventional parking management often lacks real-time slot monitoring and fails to address active security threats. This study aims to design and implement a smart parking system prototype integrated with an area security architecture based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the ESP32 microcontroller. Developed using the prototyping method, the system features state management utilizing ultrasonic sensors (HC-SR04) to monitor slot availability dynamically and control a servo motor barrier gate. Crucially, the system incorporates a conditional logic-based active security mechanism utilizing Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensors. By leveraging asynchronous execution via BlynkTimer, the system transmits real-time status updates and intruder alerts to the Blynk IoT mobile/web dashboard only when motion is detected while the parking lot is full, effectively eliminating false alarms. The simulation and testing conducted on the Wokwi platform verified that all hardware components and logical workflows operated with high accuracy, low latency, and stable cloud synchronization, demonstrating a robust, efficient, and security-responsive smart parking solution.
