Abstract

This mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative) study aims to gain in-depth insight into the learning difficulties faced by fourth-grade students in mathematical sentences and calculations at SD Negeri 3 Kutasari. The subjects were 20 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Kutasari. Data collection techniques included essay tests, observations, and interviews. Data analysis employed descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative data description. Data were obtained through interviews with five low-skilled students to describe the students' difficulties faced in mathematical sentences and calculations. The study found that students made 23.47% errors in reading and understanding questions, 20.40% errors in transformation, 21.43% errors in calculation, 12.24% errors in process skills, and 22.44% errors in conclusions. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students experience learning difficulties in mathematical sentences and calculations. The results of this study can be used as information for teachers in addressing mathematics learning difficulties in the core material of mathematical sentences and calculations. They can also be used as a basis for research on mathematics learning difficulties in different mathematical materials.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian mixed methods (kuantitatif dan kualitatif) yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara mendalam mengenai kesulitan belajar peserta didik pada materi pokok kalimat matematika dan perhitungan di kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Kutasari. Subyek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Kutasari yang berjumlah 20 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa soal tes uraian, observasi dan wawancara peserta didik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif dan deskripsi data kualitatif. Data diperoleh melaluiĀ  wawancara kepada 5 orang peseta didik dengan kategori rendah untuk mendekripsikan kesulitan peserta didik pada materi pokok kalimat matematika dan perhitungan. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan kesalahan peserta didik dalam membaca dan mamahami soal (23,47%), kesalahan transformasi (20,40%), kesalahan perhitungan (21,43%), kesalahan keterampilan proses (12,24%) serta kesalahan kesimpulan (22,44%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kesulitan belajar peserta didik pada materi pokok kalimat matematika dan perhitungan. Hasil peneltian ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan informasi bagi guru dalam menangani kesulitan belajar matematika materi pokok kalimat matematika dan perhitungan, juga dapat digunakan sebagai dasar penelitian kesulitan belajar matematika pada materi matematika yang berbeda.
