Abstract

Modern agriculture faces a major challenge in maintaining high productivity while preserving the environment. In recent decades, the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers has become a common practice worldwide to increase crop yields (Sari, 2023). This research aims at analysing the effect of organic fertiliser use on plant and soil quality. This research uses a quantitative method with a field experimental approach. This approach was chosen because it allows researchers to directly measure the effect of organic fertiliser use on soil quality and plants under environmental conditions. From the results in table 3 regarding the effect of granular and bulk organic fertilisers on plant growth, it shows that the NPK treatment alone produces the highest plant height (33.6 cm) with a production of 17.7 t/ha. In Table 4 regarding the effect of fertiliser treatment on dry weight and stem varieties, the combination of NPK with NPK + 2 t POG organic fertiliser gave a dry weight of grain of 19.5 kg and a dry weight of straw of 21.5 kg. From the results shown in Table 3, it can be seen that the use of bulk (PO bulk) and granular (POG) organic fertiliser has a positive effect on plant growth compared to the control. In Table 4, the combination of NPK with 2 tonnes of straw or granulated organic fertiliser (POG) resulted in an increase in grain dry weight, especially in the NPK + 2 t POG treatment, which reached 19.5 kg dry weight. From the results of this study, it is clear that the use of organic fertilisers significantly improves soil fertility and crop yields, especially when combined with chemical fertilisers such as NPK. Organic fertilisers not only improve soil physical and biological properties, but also increase the effectiveness of chemical fertilisers.

Abstract

Moler disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cepae is a main disease on shallot resulting high yield loss and always found in every shallot plantation. Biological control using antagonistic microorganism is an effective method in controlling moler disease with the mode of action of induced resistance. Expression of induced resistance may be affected by several factors such as the concentration of inducer. This research studied the effect of concentration of inducer in increasing induced resistance of shallot to moler disease so that the best contration was revealed. Single factor (spore concentration) with Completely Randomized Design and three replications was used. Spore concentration of avirulent F. oxyssporum f. sp. cepae used in this research was as follows: A = control, B = spore concentration of 104/ml, C = spore concentration of 105/ml, and D = spore concentration of 106/ml. Induced resistance was raised by soaking the shallot bulbs in the spore suspension of the inducer for about 30 minutes. The bulbs were then planted in polybags containing planting media of soil : cow manure with the ration of 1:1 (v/v). The results showed that the treatments were able to increase shallot resistance to moler disease from susceptible to moderate. Regression analysis revealed that the higher the concentration the higher the suppression of moler disease intensity. Increasing suppression of moler disease intensity may increase the growth and yield of shallot.

Abstract

Klepu Lor Hamlet, 14 kilometers from the center of Yogyakarta, located in Sendangmulyo Village, Minggir District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, has many potentials including: agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, culinary educational tourism, and arts and culture. Lemongrass plants are abundant in residents' yards but have not yet been utilized commercially. Based on observations, exploration, and evaluation of residents and the environment, the community needs assistance in developing an instant lemongrass drink business. The objectives of this community service program are: 1) to improve the community's ability to develop instant lemongrass beverage businesses. 2) to increase community income and welfare. The methods used are counseling and training, covering beverage product creation, packaging, business management, marketing strategies, market testing, and assistance with PIRT management. The target partner for this community service program was the Independent Women's Farmers Group in Klepu Lor hamlet. The resulting lemongrass beverage business group, labeled "SEPUR," was established. Currently in the process of obtaining a PIRT number, however marketing efforts have been carried out simply through events, consignment at stalls and through group social media.
