Abstract

Shipbuilding work in the yard and barge area has many risks of accidents that can endanger the safety of workers, one of which is the process of making the main deck. From the results of previous research at PT. XYZ Batam there are factors that cause work accidents due to Human error. The method used in this study is the Systematic Human Error Reduction and Prediction Approach (SHERPA) method. Based on the results of the study to analyze human error in the process of making barges for the Main Deck section at PT XYZ Batam using the SHERPA method, there are 6 stages of the work process with a classification of 45 activities. Then from the results of Human Error Identification, 36 errors were found during action, 1 error during retrieval, 1 error during information,1 error during selection, and 6 errors during checking. And 6 work activities that have an Ordinal Error Probability that shows a High value and a critical level that have an exclamation mark (!) are found in the work activity: in the Fitting stage at the time of starting the grinding process, in the Adjusting stage when cutting and drilling stringers, then stringers are welded and elbowed, in the Erection stage at the time of the ear welding process, at the Finishing stage when making cuts on the Main deck to fit and cut the Ears. The recommended strategic plan to mitigate the possibility of human error from workers is the provision and requirement of workers to wear Personal Protective Equipment while in the work area as well as providing training and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and 5R.

Abstract

Allwooden Woodworking is a Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) which is entrepreneurship in the production of furniture, such as tables, chairs, and cupboards. These MSE focus on the selection of good and quality raw materials. This study aims to find out when raw materials in MSE can be available at the right time with the amount according to the demand of suppliers. The method used in this research is Material Requirement Planning (MRP). The results obtained from this study are in the form of planning and controlling raw materials that contain scheduling material purchases and product manufacture regularly and determining the size of an economical order of raw materials to avoid product overstock.
