Abstract

The objectives of this research are to explore the implications of integrating Islamic values in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching, focusing on how these values influence teaching practices and student communication skills. This qualitative study examines three main aspects: the integration of Islamic values into EFL instruction, the use of culturally appropriate examples aligned with Islamic principles, and the development of effective and polite language skills among learners. The sample includes EFL educators and students from Islamic educational settings. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover key patterns and insights. The findings indicate that incorporating Islamic values in EFL teaching enhances students’ cultural understanding and moral development, ensures the appropriateness of teaching materials, and promotes effective, respectful communication. The study concludes that EFL teaching in Islamic contexts should consistently embed religious values to foster both language proficiency and ethical awareness.

Abstract

This paper explores integrating English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction with Islamic perspectives, drawing upon various sources to illustrate effective strategies. The discussion centers on embedding Islamic values within learning materials and activities, utilizing English to promote Islamic understanding, and cultivating students' ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultural and religious contexts. The paper examines challenges and proposes solutions for implementing this approach within Islamic educational institutions, aiming to foster linguistically proficient, spiritually aware, and ethically grounded learners. Specific strategies discussed include utilizing authentic materials reflecting Islamic values (e.g., Quranic verses, Hadith, Islamic literature), incorporating culturally sensitive pedagogical approaches that respect diverse learning styles and communication preferences, and designing activities that promote critical thinking and ethical decision-making within an Islamic framework. The study also addresses challenges such as the potential conflict between Western cultural norms embedded in some EFL materials and Islamic values, and the need for teacher training in culturally responsive pedagogy. By analyzing successful models of EFL instruction within Islamic contexts and drawing upon relevant theoretical frameworks, such as the Spiral Andromeda Philosophy, the paper offers practical recommendations for developing effective and holistic EFL curricula that align with the goals of Islamic education. The research highlights the potential of this integrated approach to not only enhance students' linguistic proficiency but also to nurture their spiritual growth, moral development, and intercultural understanding.

Abstract

This study delves into the integration of Islamic values within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, offering a comprehensive examination of how religious and cultural principles from the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic pedagogical philosophy can enrich language education. Rather than viewing language acquisition as a standalone objective, this paper advocates for a more holistic approach—one that incorporates Islamic ethics, communication norms, and cultural identity into the curriculum. Central areas explored include the infusion of Islamic cultural narratives into teaching practices, the adaptation of instructional materials to ensure alignment with religious principles, and the nurturing of language skills framed within ethical and spiritual dimensions. The paper also examines the essential role of educators as moral guides and curriculum developers across various levels of educational structure. Ultimately, this paper argues that by embedding Islamic values into EFL instruction, educators can produce learners who are linguistically proficient and spiritually grounded, preparing them to navigate both global communication and Islamic ethical life.

Abstract

This study discusses the importance of integrating Islamic values in the evaluation and assessment of English as a foreign language (EFL) learning in Indonesian Islamic educational environments. Through a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature studies, this study highlights that EFL evaluation has so far focused on the cognitive aspect, while the affective and spiritual dimensions have not been optimally accommodated. Values such as honesty, responsibility, and manners are very important to be instilled through the evaluation process so that the goals of Islamic education, namely the formation of noble character, can be achieved. In addition, parental involvement and two-way communication between teachers, students, and families are crucial supporting factors in strengthening the synergy of educational character. The results of the analysis indicate the need for the development of holistic and contextual assessment instruments, as well as teacher training to implement evaluation based on Islamic values systematically. This study recommends updating the curriculum and education policies so that EFL learning not only improves language competence, but also forms students with integrity and Islamic morals.

Abstract

This study explores the objectives of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing the integration of language learning with spiritual and moral development. It highlights how English language education can serve as a medium for da’wah, international communication, the reinforcement of Islamic values, and the cultivation of critical and analytical thinking rooted in Islamic teachings. Using a library research method, this study analyzes a wide range of literature related to Islamic education, language pedagogy, and value-based curriculum development. The findings reveal that EFL instruction, when aligned with Islamic principles, not only enhances linguistic competence but also contributes to character building and global engagement without compromising religious identity. This integration enables students to communicate ethically, reflect on global issues through an Islamic lens, and represent Islamic values in diverse cultural settings. Thus, the study advocates for a holistic and faith-conscious approach to EFL that prepares students to be morally grounded and intellectually capable global citizens.
