Abstract

Luka perineum derajat II pada ibu nifas merupakan salah satu komplikasi yang sering ditemukan pasca-persalinan dan membutuhkan penanganan yang tepat untuk mencegah infeksi serta mempercepat proses penyembuhan. Salah satu alternatif terapi yang banyak diperhatikan adalah pemberian rebusan daun sirih hijau, yang dikenal memiliki sifat antiseptik, anti-inflamasi, dan antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian rebusan daun sirih hijau terhadap penyembuhan luka perineum derajat II pada ibu nifas di UPTD Puskesmas Ba’a, Kabupaten Rote Ndao, pada tahun 2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan pretest-posttest. Sebanyak 30 ibu nifas yang mengalami luka perineum derajat II di UPTD Puskesmas Ba’a dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok intervensi yang diberikan rebusan daun sirih hijau dan kelompok kontrol yang menerima perawatan standar. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t-test untuk menentukan perbedaan signifikan antara kondisi sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan pada masing-masing kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kelompok intervensi terdapat peningkatan signifikan pada kategori jaringan sehat, dari 16,7% sebelum pemberian rebusan daun sirih hijau menjadi 86,7% setelah pemberian (p = 0.002). Selain itu, kategori degenerasi luka pada kelompok intervensi mengalami penurunan signifikan, dari 50% menjadi 0%. Sebaliknya, pada kelompok kontrol, meskipun ada peningkatan pada jaringan sehat, perbedaan tersebut tidak signifikan (p = 0.114), dengan penurunan pada kategori degenerasi luka yang juga tidak cukup signifikan.: Pemberian rebusan daun sirih hijau menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan dalam mempercepat penyembuhan luka perineum derajat II pada ibu nifas. Daun sirih hijau mengandung senyawa aktif seperti fenol, flavonoid, dan tanin yang berfungsi sebagai antiseptik, anti-inflamasi, dan antibakteri, yang membantu mengurangi infeksi dan mempercepat regenerasi jaringan. Peningkatan jumlah responden dengan jaringan sehat pada kelompok intervensi menunjukkan bahwa terapi ini dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif dalam perawatan luka perineum pasca-persalinan.: Pemberian rebusan daun sirih hijau berpengaruh positif terhadap penyembuhan luka perineum derajat II pada ibu nifas. Oleh karena itu, rebusan daun sirih hijau dapat dijadikan alternatif terapi pelengkap yang efektif dalam mempercepat penyembuhan luka perineum, terutama di daerah dengan keterbatasan akses terhadap perawatan medis modern.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea, characterized by painful menstrual cramps, is a common condition among women of reproductive age that often disrupts daily activities and overall quality of life. Aromatherapy, as a complementary and non-pharmacological approach, has been proposed to alleviate such pain through its physiological and psychological effects. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of peppermint, lavender, green tea, lemon, and cinnamon aromatherapy in reducing dysmenorrhea pain among women of reproductive age. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group approach was employed. A total of 75 respondents were recruited and randomly assigned to the intervention group (n = 38) and the control group (n = 37). The intervention group received aromatherapy using selected essential oils during menstruation, while the control group received no treatment. Pain intensity was assessed using a standardized numerical rating scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and multivariate analysis to compare pre- and post-intervention pain levels between groups. The findings demonstrated a significant decrease in dysmenorrhea pain levels in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.001). The mean pain score in the intervention group decreased from 7.8 ± 1.2 to 3.2 ± 1.1, while in the control group it only declined from 7.6 ± 1.3 to 6.5 ± 1.4. The observed reduction in pain supports the analgesic and relaxation properties of essential oils, particularly through their influence on the central nervous system and hormonal balance. These findings align with previous studies suggesting that aromatherapy may enhance endorphin release and reduce muscle tension associated with dysmenorrhea. Aromatherapy using peppermint, lavender, green tea, lemon, and cinnamon essential oils is effective as a complementary therapy for reducing dysmenorrhea pain in women of reproductive age. This non-pharmacological approach can be recommended as an accessible and safe alternative to improve menstrual health and comfort.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy remains a major public health problem worldwide, contributing to increased maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Purple sweet potato leaves (Ipomoea batatas L.) are rich in iron, folate, vitamin C, and anthocyanins, which are beneficial for hemoglobin synthesis and iron absorption. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of purple sweet potato leaf consumption in increasing hemoglobin levels among pregnant women in the second and third trimesters with anemia. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest control group design was conducted on 60 pregnant women with anemia (hemoglobin < 11 g/dL). Participants were allocated into an intervention group (n = 30) consuming 100 g of cooked purple sweet potato leaves daily for four weeks, and a control group (n = 30) following the standard antenatal diet without additional intervention. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention using the cyanmethemoglobin method. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk test, paired t-test, and independent t-test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The mean hemoglobin increase in the intervention group was significantly higher compared with the control group (1.2 ± 0.4 g/dL vs. 0.3 ± 0.3 g/dL; p < 0.001). The between-group mean difference was 0.9 g/dL (95% CI: 0.7–1.1). Daily consumption of purple sweet potato leaves effectively increased hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia during the second and third trimesters. This local food-based intervention may serve as a practical alternative strategy to prevent and manage anemia in pregnancy.
