Abstract

The massive growth of healthcare services, particularly post-COVID-19, has significantly increased volumes of hazardous polymer-based and infectious medical waste. Conventional methods like open incineration pose environmental and health risks due to toxic emissions and incomplete sterilization, highlighting an urgent need for safer, efficient, and sustainable management innovations. This study analyzes the effectiveness of thermal (pyrolysis, gasification) and chemical (depolymerization, Advanced Oxidation Processes/AOPs) degradation technologies through qualitative library research. Data from credible sources (indexed journals, WHO/UNEP reports, government policies; 2018–2025) were descriptively-critically and comparatively analyzed. Results demonstrate that controlled thermal degradation reduces waste volume by 90%, neutralizes pathogens at 400–800°C, and converts waste into valuable products (syngas, bio-oil), while chemical approaches (catalysts, AOPs) decompose polymers at the molecular level and neutralize heavy metals/organic contaminants without dioxin emissions. Integrating both technologies via capacity-based regional clustering and blended finance schemes proved technically-economically feasible. Contributions include: (1) Policy recommendations for the Ministry of Health/Environment to standardize green technologies; (2) Technology-as-a-Service business models for healthcare facilities; (3) Collaborative implementation frameworks (government-private-academia) supporting SDGs and Indonesia’s 2045 Golden Vision through pollution prevention, circular economy, and improved public health outcomes

Abstract

This research arises from a lack of in-depth research on the role of qirā'āt variations in enriching the scientific interpretation (tafsīr 'ilmī) of the Qur'an, particularly in cosmological verses. One example is the statement of Allah Wa āyatun lahumu al-laylu naslakhu minhu an-nahār (Yā-sīn: 37), which has three main qirā'āt: naslakhu (qirā'ah al-jumhūr), yuslakhu (qirā'ah Ibn 'Āmir), and taslakhu (qirā'ah Abī Ja'far). This study aims to reveal the semantic and bayānī meanings of these variations of reading and relate them to modern scientific phenomena regarding the day-night cycle. The research method used is qualitative, based on library research, with textual-comparative analysis of classical qirā'āt texts, traditional tafsīr works, and contemporary scientific interpretive literature. The findings show that the variety of readings provides complementary layers of meaning: naslakhu emphasizes the direct role of Allah as the regulator of cosmic phenomena; Yuslakhu highlights the firmness and orderliness of natural law; While Taslakhu offers dynamic visual illustrations that depict the night actively covering the day. The contribution of this research shows that the science of qirā'āt not only preserves textual authenticity but also expands the horizons of scientific interpretation by presenting an integrated theological, linguistic, and scientific perspective.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the conceptualization of reading in the Qur’an, which is often reduced to mere technical literacy, while the sacred text offers a holistic-integrative paradigm. Departing from the problem of fragmentation in previous studies that are partial and have not touched the semantic integrity of key lexical networks (qara’a, tala, darasa, etc.), this research addresses the urgency of theoretical-practical needs to formulate a coherent Qur’anic epistemology of reading as a foundation for Islamic philosophy of science and education. Using a rigorous thematic ( maudhu’i ) tafsir method, an exhaustive thematic exploration of all related verses, semantic-contextual analysis, and synthesis of a conceptual model were conducted. The novelty of the research lies in three aspects: the application of rigorous maudhu’i procedures for complex themes, comparative-interconnective semantic analysis between lexicons, and the construction of a theory in the form of a Multilayered Epistemology of Qur’anic Reading Model (Technical-Procedural, Performative-Reflective, and Contemplative-Constructive Layers). The results indicate that reading in the Qur’an is an active, hierarchical epistemology with dual objects ( qauliyah and kauniyah verses), an ideal subject ( ulul albab ), and an integrative-dialogical methodology, aiming to produce beneficial knowledge ( ‘ilm nāfi’ ) and universal benefit ( rahmatan lil ‘ālamīn ). This model serves as an operational framework for revitalizing an integrated Islamic knowledge paradigm.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to deconstruct Cartesian dualism, which has dominated Western epistemology, particularly in understanding the relationship between the mind, body, and sensory perception, leading to a passive and mechanical view of perception. The research offers a solution from the perspective of holistic Islamic epistemology, grounded in the concept of tawhid (oneness). The main objectives are: (1) to critically analyze the tension between Cartesian dualism and Islamic epistemology using maq??id? exegesis of Qur'anic verses, (2) to formulate an alternative framework based on Islamic tur?th, known as "Enactive Tawhidic Perception," positioning the senses as active agents in constructing reality, and (3) to explore the neuroscientific implications of this model. The qualitative library research method focuses on primary texts such as I?y?’ ‘Ul?m al-D?n by Al-Ghazali, Al-Asf?r al-Arba’ah by Mulla Sadra, and maq??id? exegesis to understand the Qur'anic perspective on perception. The study shows that Islamic epistemology views perception as an integrated activity involving the senses, intellect, and heart as a unified epistemic system, where the senses are not passive but active agents in understanding reality. This research introduces a new paradigm for the neuroscience of spirituality, suggesting that perception can be a means to draw closer to God. In conclusion, this study presents the "Enactive Tawhidic Perception" model, bridging science and spirituality, and enriching contemporary Islamic cognitive philosophy by offering solutions to the fragmentation in understanding sensory perception.
