Abstract

Kolesterol tinggi merupakan salah satu faktor risiko utama penyakit kardiovaskular. Intervensi nonfarmakologis melalui konsumsi buah yang kaya serat, antioksidan, dan fitokimia berpotensi menurunkan kadar kolesterol. Pepaya (Carica papaya L.) dan buah naga (Hylocereus sp.) merupakan buah tropis yang diketahui memiliki kandungan serat larut, vitamin C, flavonoid, dan senyawa bioaktif yang berperan dalam metabolisme lipid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh pemberian jus pepaya dan jus buah naga terhadap kadar kolesterol pada responden. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi-eksperimen dengan pendekatan pre-posttest pada dua kelompok. Jumlah responden sebanyak 20 orang, dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok intervensi jus pepaya dan kelompok intervensi jus buah naga. Masing-masing kelompok mendapat intervensi jus sebanyak 250 ml/hari selama periode tertentu. Pengukuran kadar kolesterol dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi menggunakan metode enzimatik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian papaya dan post test pemberian buah naga mendapatkan hasil p=0,04. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik kelompok jus pepaya maupun kelompok jus buah naga mengalami penurunan kadar kolesterol total yang signifikan (p<0,05). Perbandingan antar kelompok menunjukkan bahwa jus pepaya memberikan penurunan kadar kolesterol lebih besar dengan nilai p<0,001 dibandingkan jus buah naga dengan nilai p= 0,015. Jus pepaya lebih efektif dibandingkan jus buah naga dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol pada responden. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi pepaya dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif intervensi nonfarmakologis dalam upaya pengendalian kolesterol darah.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a critical health challenge in Timor-Leste, as one of the 30 countries with the highest TB burden globally. The involvement of Treatment Supporters or Pengawas Minum Obat (PMO) has been widely implemented to address these challenges. Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationship between the presence of active PMO and the incidence of OAT adverse effects among TB patients in Timor Leste. Methods: A descriptive-correlational study was conducted from July to November 2023. A total of 69 pulmonary TB patients who had completed the intensive treatment phase were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire; analysis was conducted using a chi-square test via SPSS version 26. Results: Among 69 respondents, 10 (14.5%) reported adverse effects, while 59 (85.5%) did not. The most common symptoms included reddish urine (97.1%), loss of appetite (91.3%), and joint pain (34.8%). A significant correlation was found between active PMO presence and absence of reported adverse effects (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The presence of active PMO significantly influences the perception and reporting of OAT adverse effects among TB patients. Strengthening the training and involvement of PMO in TB programs can enhance patient adherence and improve treatment outcomes.
