Abstract

Jernip Kencana is a family-owned MSME established in 1996 in Kuningan, West Java, producing natural lime syrup with consistently high customer ratings (4.2–4.8 out of 5). Despite strong product quality and long-standing market leadership, the company experienced a significant 61.7% decline in sales, from 922 units in Q2 2021 to 353 units in Q4 2024, indicating serious marketing challenges. This study aims to identify the causes of declining sales and to formulate an integrated marketing strategy by analyzing customer segmentation, targeting and positioning (STP), as well as internal and external business environments. Using a mixed-method approach, primary data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and questionnaires from 285 respondents, complemented by secondary data. Analytical tools included K-means clustering, VRIO, PESTLE, Porter’s Five Forces, TOWS, and the Marketing Mix 7Ps. The findings reveal key issues such as weak brand visibility, lack of clear STP, limited digital marketing capability, absence of customer data management, and dependence on aging distributors. The study proposes a “Heritage Premium Natural Wellness” positioning, targeting the Wellness Advocates segment, supported by strategic adjustments in STP, marketing mix, and a phased implementation plan. This research offers practical insights for traditional MSMEs navigating digital-era competition.

Abstract

In the current era of social media utilisation, User Generated Content (UGC) has become a pivotal factor in influencing consumer behaviour, particularly with regard to purchase intention. The present study investigates the influence of UGC on purchase intention in the family segment, with a specific focus on mothers as primary household decision-makers. Utilising a quantitative approach with 152 respondents fitting the family demographic, the study applies Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine the relationships among UGC, perceived usefulness, perceived trust, and purchase intention. The findings indicate that UGC exerts a substantial influence on both perceived usefulness and perceived trust. However, it is important to note that only perceived trust has a direct and mediating effect on purchase intention. Conversely, perceived usefulness, though positively influenced by UGC, does not significantly drive purchase decisions. Furthermore, UGC exerts a direct influence on purchase intention, thereby underscoring its persuasive power that extends beyond the realm of functional value. The findings of this study emphasise the pivotal role of trust in influencing purchasing decisions among family consumers, thereby underscoring its considerable potential impact on consumer behaviour. Consequently, marketing strategies should concentrate on generating credible, honest, and experience-based UGC to effectively target this segment.

Abstract

This study investigates how digital marketing strategies affect online brand advocacy, brand loyalty, and purchase intention in the context of a music and event company in Indonesia, PT. Nada Promotama. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 281 respondents through an online survey and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that digital marketing significantly influences both online brand advocacy and brand loyalty. Moreover, brand loyalty positively and significantly affects purchase intention, while online brand advocacy does not have a direct significant effect. Interestingly, the analysis revealed a reciprocal relationship between brand advocacy and brand loyalty, suggesting a mutually reinforcing dynamic between the two constructs. These findings contribute to the understanding of digital consumer behavior in the entertainment sector and offer practical insights for marketers seeking to leverage emotional loyalty and advocacy in digital strategies.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the Indonesian healthcare sector is progressing rapidly, but hospital app usage lags behind the health aggregator platforms. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing user satisfaction and its impact on continuance intention and purchase intention for Medical Check-Up (MCU) services. By integrating the UTAUT and DeLone & McLean IS Success models, data was collected from 206 respondents who used the MySiloam and MIKA apps in the Greater Jakarta area, and was analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The results show that information quality, ease of use, service quality, and social influence are significant predictors of user satisfaction. Conversely, technical aspects such as system quality and facility conditions did not have a significant effect, indicating a hygiene factor phenomenon. User satisfaction proved to be a crucial full mediator in driving continuance intention and purchase intention. Continuance intention also acts as mediator for satisfaction to influence purchase intention. For managerial implications, hospitals are advised to reorient investments from technical infrastructure to strengthening medical content, ease of use, and service responsiveness to create a satisfaction-centered patient experience for long-term business sustainability.

Abstract

CharmaScents, a small and medium enterprise established in 2023, faces a critical business challenge of persistently low sales performance despite operating within Indonesia's rapidly growing perfume market, projected to reach USD 427.81 million with a CAGR of 3.35% through 2030. Through systematic root cause analysis, this research identifies that the fundamental business issue is not product quality, pricing strategy, or distribution channels, but rather critically low brand awareness among target consumers, with 58.6% of surveyed respondents having never heard of the brand. This creates a significant gap between market potential and actual sales performance, as brand awareness serves as the essential first step in consumer decision-making processes, particularly for experiential products like fragrances where sensory perception and emotional value play crucial roles. The research addresses a significant gap in understanding how emerging local perfume SMEs in developing markets can strategically build brand awareness through digital marketing within resource-constrained environments, particularly when marketing sensory products that traditionally require physical testing but are increasingly purchased online without prior experience. This study is especially relevant given that 73% of Generation Z consumers in Indonesia now engage in blind-buying behavior for perfumes based on digital content and social proof, representing a fundamental shift in consumer behavior that existing literature has not adequately explored within the context of local brand development strategies. This research employs a comprehensive mixed-methods approach integrating quantitative consumer surveys and qualitative stakeholder interviews to develop evidence-based marketing strategies. The quantitative component utilized a structured questionnaire distributed to 249 respondents from Generation Z and Millennial demographics in the Jabodetabek area, with data analyzed through IBM SPSS Statistics using validity testing, reliability testing, descriptive statistical analysis, and cluster analysis. The qualitative component consisted of semi-structured interviews with CharmaScents' co-founder, providing critical insights into internal capabilities and strategic positioning. The theoretical foundation integrates Kotler and Armstrong's Marketing Strategy and Marketing Mix theory, Barney's Resource-Based View, Porter's Value Chain and Five Forces, and PESTLE framework, synthesized through SWOT and TOWS analysis, ultimately applying Ansoff's Matrix to identify the most appropriate growth strategy. The research findings confirm critically low brand awareness as the primary barrier to sales growth, with cluster analysis identifying Value Seekers (57% of respondents) as the optimal target segment, young middle-income professionals aged 25-35 with stronger purchasing capacity, systematic decision-making processes, and high engagement with digital platforms. Internal analysis reveals that while CharmaScents possesses valuable resources including high-quality products, unique archetype-based storytelling, and authentic Indonesian cultural narrative, these strengths remain underutilized due to inconsistent digital content execution, limited marketing budget, and insufficient social proof. External analysis highlights favorable conditions including government support for local brands, growing consumer preference for domestic products, and e-commerce adoption, though tempered by intense competitive rivalry, low entry barriers, and minimal switching costs in the marketplace. Based on these findings, the research proposes a Market Penetration strategy comprising three integrated components. First, CharmaScents should develop a systematic digital content marketing framework centered on consistent storytelling campaigns aligned with personality archetypes, leveraging Instagram, TikTok, Shopee, and Tokopedia through structured content calendars, user-generated content, and strategic micro-influencer collaborations. Second, the company should introduce value-based product offerings including trial kits and scent bundles designed to reduce purchase barriers and encourage product exploration in online environments. Third, CharmaScents should selectively participate in offline activation events in urban areas to enable sensory product experience while reinforcing digital narratives. The implementation follows a phased approach prioritizing immediate actions (0-3 months) focused on establishing consistent content systems and launching trial offerings, medium-term initiatives (3-6 months) emphasizing micro-influencer partnerships and marketplace optimization, and long-term strategies (6-12 months) involving selective offline activations and community-building programs. This resource-conscious approach aims to increase brand awareness among Value Seeker consumers, build trust through social proof, and convert market potential into sustained sales growth while remaining aligned with CharmaScents' limited organizational capacity and affordable luxury positioning.

Abstract

Abstract

Electrifying app-based mobility services has become a practical route to lower-carbon urban transport in emerging markets. How consumers actually decide to use such services, however, remains under-researched. This study investigates the constructs that shape consumer Intention to use Green SM, Indonesia's first all-electric taxi operator. The analytical framework integrates the Technology Acceptance Model and the Theory of Planned Behavior, extended with Trust and Environmental Concern. Data came from 240 active ride-hailing users in Greater Jakarta, analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling with 5,000 bootstrap resamples. Of seven hypotheses tested, four received support. Trust emerged as the strongest predictor of Attitude (β = 0.413, f² = 0.224), a pattern that cuts against the usual Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness dominance in standard TAM applications. Attitude was the strongest predictor of Behavioral Intention (β = 0.505, f² = 0.297), with mediation analysis confirming Attitude as the central pathway through which Trust and Perceived Usefulness translate into Behavioral Intention. The model accounted for 52.8% of variance in Attitude and 46.6% in Behavioral Intention. The findings yield a transferable proposition for emerging markets: provider credibility is the primary lever for converting consumers, not feature parity or environmental appeal.
