Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian quasi eksperimen.Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs S NU Sibuhuan.Subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 60 siswa terdiri dari 30 siswa kelasVIII-5 sebagai kelas eksprimen yang diajarkan dengan model problem based learning dan 30 siswa kelas VIII-6 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diajarkan dengan model konvensional.Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata N-Gain kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa di kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,64 (kategori sedang),sedangkan di kelas kontrol 0,30 (kategori rendah). Uji -t menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan konrol pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep dengan nilai ,yakni 3,889 > 2,001. Dengan demikian ditolak dan diterima,yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa materi SPLDV kelas VIII MTs S NU Sibuhuan. ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of problem based learning model on students' mathematical concept understanding ability. This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research type. The population in this study were all students of class VIII MTs S NU Sibuhuan. The subjects in this study were 60 students consisting of 30 students of class VIII-5 as an experimental class taught with a problem based learning model and 30 students of class VIII-6 as a control class taught with a conventional model. The instrument used was a test of mathematical concept understanding ability. The results showed that the average N-Gain of students' mathematical concept understanding ability in the experimental class was 0.64 (medium category), while in the control class it was 0.30 (low category). The t-test showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes in concept understanding ability with a > , which was 3,889 > 2,001. Thus, H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted, which means that there is a significant influence of the problem-based learning model on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students in SPLDV material for class VIII MTs S NU Sibuhuan.
