Abstract

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk perlawanan terhadap state of exception dalam novel As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow karya Zoulfa Katouh dengan pemikirian Giorgio Agamben. penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data diambil dari novel As Long As the Lemon Trees Grow karya Zoulfa Katouh. Langkah-langkah pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah membaca dan mencatat. Setelah membaca keseluruhan isi novel tersebut, kemudian lanjut mencatat hal-hal penting yang relevan dengan penelitian ini. Rumusan masalahnya, yaitu (1) Bagaimana representasi Suriah sebagai state of exception dalam novel As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow? (2) Bagaimana cara para tokoh direduksi menjadi bare life dan homo sacer oleh rezim yang berkuasa dan bentuk perlawanan mereka untuk kembali mendapatkan bios di tengah ancaman menjadi zoe? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan representasi Suriah sebagai state of exception dan cara para tokoh direduksi menjadi bare life serta bentuk perlawanan mereka untuk kembali mendapatkan bios di tengah ancaman menjadi zoe. KATA KUNCI: Agamben; As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow; Bare Life; Homo Sacer; State of exception ABSTRACT: This study aims to describe the forms of resistance to the state of exception in Zoulfa Katouh’s novel, As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow, using Giorgio Agamben’s ideas. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The data source was taken from Zoulfa Katouh’s novel, As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow. The data collection steps in this strudy were reading and note-taking. After reading the entire novel, the researcher then proceeded to record important points relevant to this study. The research questions are: (1) How is Syria represented as a state of exception in the novel As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow? (2) How are the characters reduced to bare life and homo sacer by the ruling regime, and how the characters are reduced to bare life, as well as their resistance to regain bios amid the threat of becoming zoe.
