Abstract

Children with intellectual disabilities have significant needs in their daily lives. Their intellectual and adaptive limitations require more intensive support from parents and teachers to enhance independence and adaptability. These children face challenges in learning processes and understanding the information they receive compared to their peers. The term "intellectual disability" refers to children with intellectual development that is below average. Individuals with this condition are also commonly referred to as having mental retardation. According to Kustawan, D. (2016), individuals with intellectual disabilities are those whose intelligence is significantly below average, accompanied by difficulties in adaptive behavior, which emerge during the developmental period. This study uses a qualitative approach aimed at analyzing the education of children with intellectual disabilities. This approach was chosen as it allows researchers to gain an in-depth understanding of individual experiences, behaviors, and needs within specific contexts. Qualitative methods provide the flexibility to explore and gather data based on the perspectives of students, teachers, and parents.Special schools (SKh) are educational institutions provided by the government for children requiring special education or children with special needs. One such special education institution located in the city of Serang is SKh 02 Kota Serang. This school continuously strives to improve service quality and support children with special needs in achieving their potential. The school is also committed to providing the best education for all children with special needs, enabling them to reach their potential and become independent and productive members of society.
