Abstract

This research aims to examine the communication of speech-impaired children at the Pandita Special Hope School (SKH) in Serang City. SKH Pandita was chosen as the research location because it has ten speech-impaired students and facilities that support research, such as classrooms and laboratories. Speech impairment is a disorder that causes difficulty speaking, which can be caused by physical factors such as abnormalities in the vocal cords, articulation disorders, or hearing loss. Children with speech impairments often have difficulty in verbal communication, which can impact their social interactions, education and emotional development. This research identifies various communication methods that can be applied to improve the communication skills of speech-impaired children, such as using sign language, visual aids and non-verbal communication. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation at SKH Pandita. It is hoped that the findings of this research can contribute to the development of better communication strategies for children with speech impairments, as well as enrich knowledge about inclusive education approaches for students with special needs.
