Abstract

Social skills are an important aspect in the development of elementary school (SD) students to interact effectively with their surrounding environment. Social Sciences (IPS) subjects have a strategic role in shaping students' social skills because they are closely related to social life. This research aims to analyze the role of teachers in developing students' social skills through social studies learning in elementary schools. This research uses a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was obtained from various literature sources relevant to the research topic. The research results show that teachers have a role as facilitators, motivators and mentors in improving students' social skills. The strategies used include discussion-based learning, group work, social simulations, and project-based learning. Through this approach, students can develop empathy, communication, and cooperation in their social interactions. The conclusion of this research shows that the role of teachers is very crucial in shaping students' social skills through the right approach in social studies learning, so it is hoped that teachers can continue to develop innovative methods to improve the quality of students' social interactions.
