Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects through the application of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model in class V SD Negeri 060915. The background of this study is the low student learning outcomes caused by the lack of active involvement in the learning process as well as the use of methods that are still conventional and teacher-centered. This study used a Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 28 fifth grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. In the pre-action stage, the average student score was 65, with a percentage of learning completeness of only 35.3%. After the implementation of the TGT type cooperative learning model, there was an increase in student learning outcomes in each cycle. In cycle I, the average score increased to 71 with 65.8% completeness, and in cycle II it increased again to 80 with 85.3% completeness. In addition to improving learning outcomes, students also showed positive changes in learning activities such as increased participation, cooperation in groups, and enthusiasm for the material presented. These results show that the TGT model is effective in improving learning outcomes and active involvement of the students.
