Abstract

This article analyzes Gojek's role in reducing carbon emissions through the integration of electric vehicles as part of efforts towards sustainable transportation in Indonesia. In the context of global climate change, the transportation sector is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, and Gojek, as a pioneer of online ojek services, faces challenges to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. This research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by Gojek in transitioning to an electric vehicle fleet, including technological, infrastructure, and policy aspects. The results show that despite obstacles such as high initial costs and inadequate charging infrastructure, Gojek's initiative has significant potential to reduce carbon emissions and encourage the development of an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. Positive impacts on stakeholders, including drivers and users, as well as contributions to the achievement of government emission reduction targets, were identified as important outcomes of the initiative. Recommendations include improving fiscal incentives, developing charging infrastructure, and cross-sectoral cooperation to support an inclusive and sustainable transition. In conclusion, the electrification of transportation through Gojek's business model demonstrates an innovative strategy that can accelerate the shift towards ling-friendly mobility.
