Abstract

This study aims to explore mathematical elements embedded in the traditional market snacks (jajanan pasar) of the Indramayu community through an ethnomathematics approach. Ethnomathematics is a perspective that examines mathematical activities within the context of local culture. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving traditional snack vendors. The findings reveal various mathematical concepts such as geometry, measurement, patterns, and arithmetic operations embedded in the preparation and presentation of the snacks such as shapes, ingredient proportions, folding patterns, and pricing calculations. These findings indicate that intuitive mathematical activities performed by the local community hold potential as contextual learning resources in mathematics education. Thus, integrating local cultural elements through ethnomathematics can enhance both the understanding and appreciation of mathematics in everyday life.
