Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at SMP Diponegoro Majenang in the context of using two curricula, namely the Merdeka Curriculum and the PAI Curriculum. The results of the study indicate that curriculum development is carried out through two channels, namely intracurricular and extracurricular activities. In intracurricular activities, there is synergy between PAI subjects and other subjects, such as Science. This synergy is seen when learning the material on the caliphate is associated with the responsibility of maintaining the natural ecosystem, as well as in the material on the creation of the universe which is connected to the Big Bang theory. This thematic approach enriches students' understanding of Islamic values while strengthening scientific reasoning. Meanwhile, curriculum development through extracurricular activities is realized in the form of Madrasah Diniyah (madin) and religious habituation programs that support the strengthening of students' character. This study shows that curriculum integration and contextual development provide a positive contribution in forming students who are religious, scientific, and have character.
