Abstract

This study aims to examine how the development of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) through portfolio implementation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) can address academic procrastination among students. SRL is an autonomous learning ability involving planning, monitoring, and evaluating the learning process actively by learners. The portfolio, as both a learning and authentic assessment tool, enables students to reflect on their learning progress, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop improvement strategies. In the context of PAI, portfolios help integrate Islamic values with real-life practices, leading to increased religious awareness and academic responsibility. Through a literature review approach, this paper finds that the portfolio-based strategy fosters intrinsic motivation, discipline, and student engagement, which significantly reduces procrastination behaviors. Therefore, portfolios not only enhance the effectiveness of PAI learning but also contribute to shaping independent and religious student character.
