Abstract

This study was motivated by initial observations at PAUD AL ASHR, which showed that the fine motor skills of children aged 4-5 years were still relatively low, as they were unable to hold a pencil correctly, did not recognize colors, and had difficulty concentrating on coordinating their eyes and hands. This problem prompted the researchers to use coloring with crayons as one of the solutions. Crayons were chosen because they are lightweight for children to hold and have a soft texture. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative, involving 4 girls, 4 boys, and 1 informant from the A class teacher. The results of the observations and interviews showed that coloring with crayons had a significant impact on improving the fine motor skills of 4-5 year old children. Through coloring activities, children not only receive stimulation but also develop finger strength and control movements, which are crucial for daily activities. Additionally, coloring activities enhance children's concentration during the learning process. It can be concluded that coloring with crayons is an efficient and enjoyable method for promoting fine motor skill development in children in the early childhood education setting.
