Abstract

Misconceptions about gender perception are still common in Indonesia. Parents' perceptions about gender affect the parenting style of children. This study aims to describe the gender biases that occur to parents in childcare. This study uses a mixed method by distributing questionnaires and conducting structured interviews. Respondents in this study were 204 parents who had children aged 0 to 8 years. Analysis of quantitative data uses descriptive statistics while the results of qualitative data analysis use Miles and Huberman. The results of this study revealed as many as 27.1% of parents were gender responsive in parenting style. However, there are 72.9% of parents who are still gender biased. This is because the culture and environment still influence the parents' perception.
