Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of integration of Islamic boarding school curriculum based on Islamic values and technology at Pesantren Sintesa Magetan, which combines religious learning and digital skills in one integrated education system. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, involving caregivers, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that the Pesantren Sintesa curriculum integrates tahfidz teaching, book studies, and digital skills such as digital marketing, web management, and multimedia simultaneously, with project-based learning facilitated by mentors. This model is effective in improving the technical, soft, and conceptual skills of students, as well as forming graduates who are ready to compete professionally without losing their Islamic identity. The challenges faced include differences in basic digital skills of students, limited infrastructure, and the need for competent teachers, which are overcome through intensive mentoring and the use of online teachers. This study recommends strengthening technology-based teacher training, developing a flexible curriculum that is adaptive to digital developments, and replicating this integration model in other Islamic boarding schools to produce a generation of Muslims who are globally competitive. These findings are expected to be the basis for the development of technology-based Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School plays a significant role in driving the economic transformation of the Kembangbelor Village community, Pacet District, Mojokerto Regency. Before establishing the Islamic boarding school, the village faced a relatively high level of poverty, as most residents relied solely on the agricultural sector. The presence of the Islamic boarding school significantly contributed to accelerating the economic growth of its residents. In a theoretical framework, a role is a set of behaviours expected of individuals and institutions with a social position within the community. This study focuses on analysing the role of Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School in improving the economy of Kembangbelor Village. The research method used was a qualitative case study approach in Kembangbelor Village. Data were collected through primary and secondary sources, then analysed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The research findings indicate that Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School contributes to job creation by involving the community as educators, security guards, cooks, cleaners, construction workers, and laundry services. Furthermore, the Islamic boarding school also opens business opportunities for residents by establishing kiosks, coffee shops, street vendors, lodging, and parking services. These various roles demonstrate that Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School can empower the community to improve its economic situation. However, a more comprehensive and sustainable program is needed for optimal community empowerment.

Abstract

The digital transformation of Islamic education has intensified the need for learning media that are not only technologically accessible but also pedagogically meaningful and aligned with Islamic values. At the Madrasah Aliyah level, sustaining students’ engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) remains a persistent challenge, particularly within online and hybrid learning settings. Addressing this issue, the present study aims to examine the integration of Islamic podcasts into PAI learning and to explore their contribution to students’ learning interest, participation, conceptual understanding, and independent learning practices. This study employed a qualitative multiple-case study design in three State Madrasah Aliyah in Banjarmasin, involving students, PAI teachers, and madrasah administrators as research participants. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis over one academic semester and were analyzed thematically using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña framework. The findings demonstrate that integrating Islamic podcasts enhanced students’ engagement in learning by encouraging more active participation, deeper conceptual understanding, and more meaningful involvement in classroom discussions. Podcasts also improved access to learning, enabled flexible, repeated access to instructional materials, and fostered stronger independent learning habits among students. In addition, the narrative and contextual nature of podcast-based learning supported students’ emotional and spiritual connection with Islamic values. The originality of this study lies in its contextual and pedagogical contribution to Islamic education by positioning Islamic podcasts not merely as digital tools, but as integrative learning media that connect cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions within the madrasah context.
