Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping Islamic consumption behavior among underprivileged households in Kecamatan Kuranji, Kota Padang. Through education, Islamic principles such as avoiding excessive behavior (israf), choosing halal and thayyib consumption, and refraining from unbeneficial spending are more easily understood and applied. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method, distributing questionnaires to 99 respondents, and the data were analyzed with simple linear regression using SPSS. The results indicate that the level of education has a significant effect on Islamic consumption behavior, where higher education correlates with better understanding and application of Sharia principles in daily household spending. Although education explains part of the variation in consumption behavior, other factors such as income, family size, and social environment also contribute. These findings emphasize the importance of enhancing access to Islamic education, financial literacy, and public awareness to consistently implement Islamic consumption principles.
