Abstract

Confidentiality of psychological test tools is an important aspect in maintaining the validity, reliability, and integrity of the assessment process. However, leaks of test tools through social media or unofficial guidance still frequently occur, especially among new students who are early users of assessment services in higher education. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of educational posters on the confidentiality of psychological test tools in increasing new students' awareness of the ethics of using and protecting assessment data. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest model involving 30 new Psychology students at Makassar State University. The intervention was provided through posters containing information about the prohibition on distributing test tools, the ethics of storing assessment data, and the risk of violations. Data were collected using a confidentiality awareness questionnaire before and after the intervention, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed an increase in the average awareness score from 6.23 in the pretest to 6.93 in the posttest, without a decrease in scores across all participants. The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z value of –2.969 with p = 0.003, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. These findings indicate that posters are an effective educational tool for raising awareness of test equipment confidentiality among new students. This research contributes to strengthening the implementation of psychological ethics in academic settings through simple and easy-to-implement visual communication interventions.
