Abstract

Abstract: The problem of plastic waste and the lack of sanitation facilities in schools pose serious challenges to environmental health. This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding of waste management through the application of appropriate technology called Ecosink (portable sink) based on recycled materials. The partners were 53 students at one of the Islamic High School, Gorontalo City. The implementation method used a Participatory Learning approach, combining education, assembly practice, and observation. Results showed the successful creation of functional Ecosink units, with student knowledge increasing from 92% to 98%. Despite a ceiling effect in cognitive scores, the program effectively instilled technical recycling skills. Moving forward, longer workshop durations and the formation of dedicated student maintenance teams for periodic filter replacement are recommended to ensure the sustainability of school sanitation facilities.
