Abstract

Abstrak: Desa Kawengan memiliki potensi limbah pertanian berupa tongkol jagung yang melimpah namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal serta tingginya ketergantungan peternak terhadap pakan komersial yang berdampak pada biaya produksi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah tongkol jagung menjadi pakan ternak fermentasi, mendukung kemandirian pakan lokal, serta menciptakan peluang ekonomi baru. Mitra kegiatan adalah kelompok tani dan peternak Desa Kawengan dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 10 orang. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pendekatan partisipatif melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan praktik langsung (learning by doing), dan pendampingan berkelanjutan. Evaluasi dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan perbandingan kemampuan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan teknis peserta sebesar 65% dan peningkatan pemahaman pengelolaan limbah pertanian sebesar 70%. Selain itu, pemanfaatan pakan fermentasi mampu menurunkan biaya pakan ternak hingga 30%, sehingga meningkatkan nilai ekonomis dan ketahanan pangan lokal. Abstract: Kawengan Village has abundant agricultural waste potential in the form of corncobs, but it has not been optimally utilized, and livestock farmers are highly dependent on commercial feed, which impacts production costs. This community service activity aims to improve community knowledge and skills in processing corncobs into fermented livestock feed, support local feed independence, and create new economic opportunities. The activity partners are farmer and livestock groups in Kawengan Village with a total of 10 participants. The method used includes a participatory approach through socialization, direct practical training (learning by doing), and ongoing mentoring. Evaluation was carried out in a participatory manner through observation, interviews, and comparison of abilities before and after the activity. The results showed a 65% increase in participants' technical skills and a 70% increase in understanding of agricultural waste management. In addition, the use of fermented feed can reduce livestock feed costs by up to 30%, thereby increasing the economic value and local food security.
