Abstract

Discharge planning postpartum is a systematic planning process from the beginning of the patient's arrival until the time he leaves the health service. Some health workers, especially midwives, sometimes do not run it optimally. It is predominantly done when the patient is about to go home by giving a re-control letter only. So it is necessary to explore the competence of discharge planning optimally and professionally. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of seven jumps and classical method on student knowledge of postpartum discharge planning. The research method used quasi experiment with pretest and posttest control group design. The total samples were 25 students as respondents; 14 students joined intervention group who got seven jumps method and 11 students joined control group who got classical one. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The data analysis used Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test. The results of Wilcoxon test showed an improvement of knowledge of discharge planning postpartum by using seven jumps method in intervention group (p-value 0.001) and by using classical method in control group (p-value 0.003). The results of Mann Whitney test (p-value 0.285) showed no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group. To conclude, seven jumps and classical method are effective to improve student knowledge of discharge planning post partum. However, there is statistically no significant difference between both methods.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a key indicator reflecting children’s health and growth. Migrant children are at higher nutritional risk due to limited access to healthcare services, inadequate living environments, and suboptimal dietary patterns. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of nutritional status based on Body Mass Index-for-Age (BMI-for-Age) among migrant children aged 6–12 years. This study employed an analytical quantitative design with cross-sectional approach. A total of 33 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire completed by parents/guardians and direct anthropometric and hemoglobin examinations. Data analysis included Chi-square and logistic regression tests. The results showed that most children were classified as underweight/thinness (69.7%). Iron tablet consumption (OR=2.80) and water source type (OR=2.50) showed a tendency to be associated with nutritional status. The study recommends strengthening school-based health education, improving access to clean water, routine growth monitoring, and encouraging regular iron supplementation as promotive-preventive strategies among migrant children. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of nutrition and health interventions for vulnerable migrant children and to enrich the literature on child health disparities.

Abstract

Many Indonesian children experienced nutritional problems, especially in low-income areas, which risks hindering their growth and development. Many migrant children aged 10-14 years did not know the benefits of balanced nutrition, so the majority still consume foods that are not good for their growth. The purpose of this study was to enhance balanced nutrition knowledge of migrant children. This study was conducted at the Kepong Guidance Center, Malaysia and used quasi-experimental with pre-tests and post-tests. The sample consisted of 30 elementary school students in grades 3–6, divided into two groups: 15 students in poster group and 15 students in PowerPoint group. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test, resulting on p = 0.000 (< 0.05) with a mean difference of 2.133. Students who received nutrition education through PowerPoint media demonstrated a greater improvement in knowledge compared to those who received education through poster media. PowerPoint is more effective than posters in improving students' knowledge of balanced nutrition. Therefore, PowerPoint is recommended as a medium of nutritional education to support the improvement of students' nutritional knowledge and healthy eating behaviors.
