Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in students’ mathematics learning outcomes between those taught using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model and those taught using the direct learning model on the topic of flat-sided solid geometry in Grade VIII at SMPN 2 Gorontalo City. The method employed was an experimental study with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The samples were selected using the Cluster Random Sampling technique, resulting in class VIII-4 as the experimental class using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model and class VIII-3 as the control class using the direct learning model. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test on mathematics learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive analysis showed that the mean score of students in the experimental class was higher, with a value of 13.96 compared to 12.57 in the control class. Furthermore, the inferential analysis using the t-test indicated that , namely 2.0551 > 1.6736 at a significance level of . Therefore, it can be concluded that students taught using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model achieved higher mathematics learning outcomes than those taught using the direct learning model. The Jigsaw cooperative learning model encourages students to actively engage in both individual and group learning, as well as enhances responsibility and collaboration among students.
