Abstract

Depressive symptoms are one of the most common mental health problems among adolescents and may affect academic performance, social functioning, and psychological well-being. Several psychological factors are known to contribute to depressive symptoms, including perfectionism, academic stress, and fear of missing out (FoMO). This study aimed to determine the relationship between perfectionism, academic stress, and fear of missing out (FoMO) with depressive symptoms among students of SMAN 4 Mataram. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach involving 306 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the DASS-42, CAPS, ASS, and FoMO questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 158 respondents (51.6%) experienced depressive symptoms, 275 respondents (89.9%) had high levels of perfectionism, 243 respondents (79.4%) experienced academic stress, and 279 respondents (91.2%) experienced FoMO. There were significant relationships between perfectionism and depressive symptoms (p = 0.014), academic stress and depressive symptoms (p = 0.001), and FoMO and depressive symptoms (p = 0.008). This study concludes that perfectionism, academic stress, and fear of missing out (FoMO) are significantly associated with depressive symptoms among students of SMAN 4 Mataram, indicating the need for early detection, strengthened counseling services, and mental health promotion programs in the school environment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Learning activities are the main activities that exist in any educational process. Learning has a global goal to change one's behavior and potential behavior. Graduates, especially at the undergraduate level, use the cumulative grade point average (GPA) as an indicator of the real ability of students to learn in a course after going through the learning process in a certain time. This study aims to analyze whether there is a relationship between learning motivation, learning style and sleep quality with grade point average (GPA) in Al-Azhar Islamic University Medical students class of 2021. This research is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design that analyzes the relationship between learning style, learning motivation, and sleep quality on the GPA of Al-Azhar Islamic University Faculty of Medicine students class of 2021.  A sample of 98 students was selected using total sampling technique, with research instruments in the form of MSLQ for learning motivation, VARK for learning style, and PSQI for sleep quality. The results showed that the majority of students had moderate motivation (58.16%), unimodal learning style (80%), and good sleep quality (65.31%). A total of 76.53% of students experienced an increase in GPA. Analysis using the Chi-square test showed that learning motivation was significantly associated with GPA (p = 0.000), while learning style did not have a significant relationship (p = 0.633). Sleep quality was significantly associated with an increase in GPA (p = 0.044, PR = 2.053, 95% CI: 1.015-4.154). This study concludes that learning motivation and sleep quality have a significant effect on GPA, while learning style has no significant relationship. Keyword: Learning Motivation, Learning Style, Sleep Quality, GPA  ABSTRAK Kegiatan pembelajaran merupakan kegiatan utama yang ada pada setiap proses pendidikan.
