Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (DPUPR) of Tebo Regency in the development of Tanjung Bungur Market and to examine the solutions implemented to address the existing problems. The market development strategy focuses on the provision of facilities and infrastructure, spatial arrangement and market area layout, as well as improving the comfort and security of the market environment. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of officials from the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Tebo Regency, market managers, traders, and members of the community who utilize the market. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the development strategy of Tanjung Bungur Market has been implemented through improvements in the drainage system, management of environmental cleanliness in the market area, and the arrangement and relocation of traders in stages. However, several obstacles remain, including a drainage system that has not yet functioned optimally, low awareness among traders and visitors in waste management, and uneven compliance of traders with market arrangement and relocation policies. The solutions implemented by the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Tebo Regency include continuous evaluation and improvement of the drainage system, enhancement of waste management and market cleanliness, and persuasive approaches through socialization and assistance for traders. These solutions have contributed to improving orderliness, comfort, and the function of Tanjung Bungur Market as a center of the people’s economy, although continuous monitoring and evaluation are still required.
