Abstract

The City of Cirebon is part of the Rebana Metropolitan Area and possesses significant potential in the MSME sector. Economic growth and increasing population mobility require a reliable and efficient transportation system. However, persistent transportation problems such as traffic congestion can reduce community income and hinder the distribution system of goods and services. This study aims to assess the Level of Service (LoS) of road segments in the City of Cirebon as a basis for determining priority road network improvements to support MSME development. The analytical methods employed include LoS analysis calculated in accordance with the PKJI 2023 and visualized using ArcGIS. MSME density was analyzed using KDE in ArcGIS. Furthermore, spatial overlay analysis was applied to integrate the LoS results with MSME density patterns. The findings indicate that the LoS values of the 19 observed road segments in the City of Cirebon vary considerably. Approximately 47.37% of the segments fall within LoS D-F, indicating traffic conditions ranging from approaching unstable flow to severe congestion at LoS F, where maximum vehicle speeds are limited to approximately 15 km/h. The KDE analysis reveals that the highest concentration of MSMEs is predominantly located in Kejaksan and Pekalipan Districts. Meanwhile, the spatial overlay analysis identifies priority road segments that require immediate attention to support MSME activities in the City of Cirebon, namely Wahidin Sudirohusodo Street and Sunan Gunung Jati Street in Kejaksan District, as well as Pekalipan Street and Nyi Mas Gandasari Street in Pekalipan District.

Abstract

Tourism is increasingly recognized as a key driver of sustainable development, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. Beyond its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), tourism plays a strategic role in job creation, regional equity, and cultural preservation. However, in disaster-prone regions like Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, tourism development faces significant challenges due to high vulnerability to natural hazards including floods, landslides, earthquakes, and tsunamis. This study employs a spatial assessment approach to identify the overlap between designated tourism areas in the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and disaster-prone zones. The findings highlight the paradox between efforts to maximize tourism potential and the risks of disaster vulnerability. Spatial analysis not only identifies destinations at risk but also provides insights into the interconnections among infrastructure, community preparedness, and destination management. The study emphasizes that sustainable tourism development in disaster-prone areas can only be achieved through integrated strategies of mitigation, adaptation, and preparedness. Such approaches ensure tourist safety, strengthen local community resilience, and maintain long-term investment confidence. The objectives of this research are threefold: (1) to identify tourism subdistricts located in disaster-prone zones, (2) to analyze the implications of these vulnerabilities on tourism sustainability, and (3) to propose adaptive strategies for resilient tourism development. The results are expected to contribute to comprehensive policy directions that integrate spatial planning, disaster risk management, and sustainability strategies for building resilient tourism in Bima Regency.

Abstract

The expansion of urban functions fosters the creation of new activity centers beyond existing built-up areas, thereby transforming rural landscapes into semi-urban zones. Driven by rapid globalization, technological advancements, and population growth within urban areas, peri-urbanization—as a manifestation of urban expansion—has become an inevitable phenomenon. This phenomenon is evident in the Kawasan Perkotaan Yogyakarta (KPY), which administratively encompasses three jurisdictions: Yogyakarta City as the urban core, along with portions of Sleman and Bantul Regencies. Currently, the trajectory of urban sprawl is shifting southward toward Bantul Regency. This study aims to delineate the peri-urban zones within the Kawasan Perkotaan Yogyakarta (KPY). This research employs a quantitative approach utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS)-based spatial analysis. Regional clustering was performed using the k-means algorithm based on four primary variables: percentage of built-up land, net population density, percentage of non-agricultural households, and availability of public facilities. The results indicate that peri-urban areas in the KPY are no longer confined by administrative boundaries but have significantly expanded southward into Bantul Regency. The study classifies the region into four distinct zones: (1) urban core, (2) urban fringe, (3) peri-urban, and (4) rural. These findings indicate a substantial transformation of agricultural land into non-agricultural use within the peri-urban zone. Consequently, this study recommends the integration of cross-regional spatial planning policies within the KPY to control land conversion and ensure sustainable development in these transitional areas.
