Abstract

Abstract: The Hepi Borneo (HB) Poultry Farmers’ Group is facing high feed costs for laying hens. This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to empower 20 HB members to produce their own feed using organic waste and motan fish. Implementation methods include outreach, technical training, technology application, pellet-making workshops, and digital marketing. Materials were delivered through visual media covering waste management strategies, feed nutrient composition, and economic impact analysis. Results from pre- and post-test evaluations showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding regarding chicken nutrition (32.5% to 87.5%), pellet types (45% to 95%), and feed formulation (5% to 80%). Participant satisfaction with the program’s implementation reached 95%, and with the instructors, 90%. Additionally, there was a noticeable trend toward increased participation, evident through active discussions and the emergence of various innovative ideas during the program. This program contributed to strengthening participants’ hard and soft skills, as well as promoting economic self-reliance based on local resources. These results demonstrate that an integrated approach in problem-based technical training is capable of strengthening the capacity of farmer groups in a sustainable manner.
