Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan sains anak usia 4-5 tahun di TK Masyithoh 19 Pandaan akibat penggunaan metode pembelajaran konvensional yang cenderung monoton. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode eksperimen terhadap kemampuan kognitif sains anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain Pre-Experimental (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design). Populasi penelitian melibatkan 24 anak kelompok A di TK Masyithoh 19 Pandaan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif. Mengingat data yang diperoleh berskala ordinal dan tidak berdistribusi normal, analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistik non-parametris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode eksperimen memberikan pengaruh yang sangat signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan kognitif sains anak (p = 0.001 < 0.01). Melalui berbagai praktik langsung seperti mencampur warna, eksperimen sabun susu, air berjalan, serta reaksi soda kue dan cuka, anak menjadi lebih memahami konsep sains dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Simpulannya, metode eksperimen efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan sains anak usia dini dibandingkan metode konvensional. Kata Kunci: Metode Eksperimen, Sains Anak Usia Dini. ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the limited science skills of children aged 4–5 years at TK Masyithoh 19 Pandaan, which resulted from conventional and monotonous teaching methods. This study aims to determine the impact of implementing the experimental method on children's cognitive science abilities. The study employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental (One-Group Pretest-Posttest) design. The research population consisted of 24 children from Group A at TK Masyithoh 19 Pandaan. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation. Since the data obtained were on an ordinal scale and not normally distributed, the analysis was performed using non-parametric statistics. The results demonstrated that the experimental method had a highly significant effect on improving children's cognitive science skills (p = 0.001 < 0.01). Through various hands-on activities such as color mixing, milk-soap experiments, walking water, and baking soda-vinegar reactions, children developed a better understanding of scientific concepts in an engaging way. In conclusion, the experimental method is more effective than conventional methods in enhancing early childhood science abilities.   Keywords: Experimental Method, Science Early Childhood
