Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of goatmanure and liquid organic fertilizer made from coffee husk waste on the growth of Java tea (Orthosiphon aristatus) cuttings. The study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of two factors with 48 plots. The first factor was the application of goat manure, symbolized as “S,” with four treatment levels: S0 (without goat manure), S1 (250 g/polybag), S2 (350 g/polybag), and S3 (450 g/polybag). The second factor was the application of liquid organic fertilizer made from coffee husk waste, symbolized as “K,” with four treatment levels: K0 (0 ml/L water/polybag), K1 (30 ml/L water/polybag), K2 (60 ml/L water/polybag), and K3 (90 ml/L water/polybag). Thus, there were 16 treatment combinations with three replications. The parameters observed in this study were the time of shoot emergence, number of shoots, shoot length, number of leaves, plant height, and survival percentage. The results showed that the application of goat manure and liquid organic fertilizer from coffee husk waste on the growth of Java tea (Orthosiphon aristatus) cuttings had no significant effect on all observed parameters.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of cow urine liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and the use of rice husk charcoal on the growth and production of sweet mustard plants. This research method uses a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 2 factors with 48 plots, namely: The first factor is the provision of rice husk charcoal symbolized by "M" which consists of 4 treatment levels (M0: Topsoil, M1: Topsoil + Compost (1: 1) / Plot, M2: Topsoil + Rice Husk Charcoal (1: 1) / Plot, M3: Topsoil + Rice Husk Charcoal + Compost (1: 1: 1) / Plot). The second factor is the provision of Cow Urine POC symbolized by "P" which consists of 4 treatment levels (P0: 0ml/l/plot, P1: 40ml/l/plot, P2: 80ml/l/plot, P3: 120 ml/l/plot). So there are 16 combinations consisting of 3 replications. The parameters observed in this study were plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, corm diameter, dry weight per plot, and wet weight per plot. The results showed that the application of cow urine fertilizer (POC) and the use of rice husk charcoal as a growing medium significantly affected the growth and yield of sweet mustard greens. The topsoil + rice husk charcoal + compost (1:1:1) growing medium produced the best growth and yield across all observed parameters. The application of cow urine fertilizer (POC) was at a dose of 80–120 ml/L.

Abstract

Okra is a plant that has many benefits and nutritional content contained in its fruit. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of goat manure and liquid organic fertilizer from agricultural waste on the growth and production of okra plants. This study used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 2 treatment factors, 16 treatment combinations and 3 blocks so that the total number of plots was 48 research treatment plots. Factor I was goat manure (K) which consisted of 4 treatment levels, namely K0 = 0 g/plot, K1 = 600 g/plot, K2 = 1200 g/plot, and K3 = 1800 g/plot. Factor II was agricultural waste POC (L) which consisted of 4 treatment levels, namely L0 = 0 ml/liter of water/plot, L1 = 15 ml/liter of water/plot, L2 = 30 ml/liter of water/plot, and L3 = 45 ml/liter of water/plot. The results of the study with the provision of goat manure on the growth and production of okra plants provided a very significant response from all observation parameters. The best level was found in the K3 treatment. The application of agricultural waste POC to okra plant growth and production showed no significant response across all observed parameters. However, the number of leaves at 4 weeks post-planting showed a significant response. The best level was found in the L1 treatment.

Abstract

The physical quality of Arabica coffee beans is a key determinant of product competitiveness in the export market. One common problem is the presence of hollow beans (trieste), which can reduce the quality and economic value of the coffee. Therefore, an effective sorting process utilizing a Sutton-type densitometric table is necessary. This study aims to analyze the effect of airflow velocity and sorting time and determine the optimal treatment combination to improve the separation performance of hollow coffee beans. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two treatment factors, namely air flow speed consisting of three levels (low, medium, and high) and sorting time consisting of three levels (1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours). Each treatment combination was repeated twice to obtain nine treatment combinations. The parameters observed included engine capacity, air flow stability, and the level of purity of the sorting results. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5% and continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that variations in airflow velocity and sorting time had a highly significant effect (p<0.05) on all observed parameters. The best treatment combination was obtained at A3W3 (high airflow velocity with a sorting time of 3 hours), which resulted in a machine capacity of 230 kg/hour, airflow stability of 14.90, and a purity level of 100%. In general, increasing airflow velocity followed by increasing sorting time tends to increase the effectiveness of the process of separating hollow coffee beans.
