Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the tragedy experienced by the main character Mata Hari in Coelho s The Spy < em> The main characters struggle to pursue her dream until the end she had to face the tragedy of her death This study is using qualitative research The primary source is the novel itself The Spy< em> While secondary sources include books related to the analysis of the research and relevant book and resources that support the analysis; quotation definition and statement The death of Mata Hari as the main character in Coelho s The Spy is a tragedy That becomes a history of her struggle Married then moved and lived in Indonesia precisely in Malang because Rudolf MacLeod or Mata Hari s husband was assigned there With confident that after married will change Mata Hari s for the better Yet different things got Mata Hari was only made a seizure by the husband The days she lived on the island of Java only became endless nightmares The result of this study shows that tragic consequences of life in Mata Hari bring her to death It because of the way of her life: being divorced being a popular exotic dancer becoming a mistress < p>

Abstract

This article examines the social criticism expressed in two literary works: Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck Using a descriptive qualitative method and an objective approach the study focuses on analyzing intrinsic elements such as themes characters and conflicts within the texts Laskar Pelangi portrays the social realities in Belitung Indonesia highlighting issues such as social inequality and limited access to education while delivering a message of hope and perseverance through the struggles of underprivileged children In contrast The Grapes of Wrath captures the hardships faced by migrant farmworker families in the United States during the Great Depression emphasizing labor exploitation and the importance of social unity Although the two works emerge from different cultural and historical backgrounds they converge on the themes of social injustice and the pursuit of societal transformation The findings demonstrate that literature serves as a powerful medium for articulating social critique and fostering awareness of significant societal issues This analysis reinforces the role of literary works in illuminating social realities and inspiring critical reflection among readers The research employs an objective study method to ensure an impartial evaluation of the texts intrinsic elements < p>

Abstract

This research aims to find out how superstitions are revealed in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and how the impact of superstitions on the main character by applying qualitative research where data is collected in the form of words and quotes from novels books dictionaries and journals to strengthen the research The researcher collected data using two types of sources namely primary sources and secondary sources Primary sources are taken from the novel itself and secondary sources are taken from books dictionaries and relevant journals In analyzing the data the author uses an objective approach whose research is solely based on Intrinsic criteria The results of this research show that there are four categories of superstition revealed in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer namely believing in superstitious rituals believing in magic believing in urban legend and believing in amulets In addition this research also shows that superstition brings positive and negative impacts on Tom Sawyer the main character in the story The positive impact found is that superstition can provide a sense of security and cause obedience to Tom Sawyer While the negative impact is that superstition makes Tom sacrifice himself and brings disappointment because what Tom expects does not match the reality that occurs < em>< p> nbsp;< em>< p>
