Abstract

Education in Indonesia today still relies on monotonous learning methods, particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) classes. This condition leads to low student motivation in learning. This study discusses Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences in the context of PAI learning. The objectives of this research are: 1) To explain the background of the emergence of the Multiple Intelligences theory. 2) To explain its application in Islamic Religious Education learning. 3) To explain the types of intelligences according to Howard Gardner. This research employs a library method with a descriptive-analytical approach and content analysis techniques. The findings show that every child possesses nine types of intelligence, such as linguistic, logical, bodily-kinesthetic, social, emotional, and spiritual intelligence. Teachers are therefore required to be creative in applying various learning strategies that correspond to students’ intelligences.
