Abstract

This study aims to determine self-regulation in employees holding deputy department heads who have intentions to quit their jobs. Self-regulation is an individual's ability to control their thoughts, feelings, and behavior through internal processes, so they can achieve desired goals. Meanwhile, intention to quit is a psychological concept that describes an employee's intention to leave their job voluntarily. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The participants were two individuals who had worked for 10-25 years. The research location was Bekasi City. Data analysis used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The analysis results for both respondents showed different factors causing turnover intention. Respondent 1 had a significant influence on workload, while respondent 2 was more influenced by career path. Self-regulation aspects included job satisfaction, organizational commitment, work stress, self-development, and perceptions of alternatives. Respondent 1's most prominent aspect was workload. Respondent 2's most prominent aspect was self-development or career path in influencing turnover intention. Both respondents underwent several self-regulation processes, including self-observation, judgment, and self-response. Based on these analysis results, it can be concluded that both respondents were able to self-regulate.

Abstract

This study examines the perceived mental health experiences of female adolescent santri after participating in Islamic Coaching with the I.S.L.A.M Model in an Indonesian pesantren. Adolescent mental health remains a serious concern in Indonesia, including among santri who live within structured religious, academic, and residential environments. Although coaching has been used as a non-clinical form of support, limited qualitative research has examined how spiritually grounded coaching is experienced by adolescent santri in Islamic boarding school settings. This study used an exploratory qualitative design with a phenomenological orientation. Five female santri aged 14 to 17 years who had completed Islamic Coaching sessions using the I.S.L.A.M Model were selected through purposive sampling, and one additional informant was included to provide contextual information. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that participants perceived the coaching process as a relatively safe and structured space for emotional expression, self-reflection, social boundary-setting, and spiritual coping. Their narratives reflected interconnected emotional, psychological, social, moral, and spiritual dimensions of mental health. The elements of Intention, See, Learn, Action, and Munajat were perceived as helpful because they supported participants in clarifying feelings, reinterpreting personal difficulties, recognizing personal capacity, taking practical steps, and reconnecting emotional experiences with prayer and reliance on Allah. This study contributes to the discussion of adolescent mental health in pesantren by offering a contextual account of Islamic Coaching as a non-clinical, spiritually grounded form of support. The findings should be read as participants’ perceived experiences rather than evidence of clinical effectiveness.

Abstract

Permanent disability resulting from burns or violence-induced blindness produces not only physical limitations but also profound psychological, social, and spiritual change that shapes an individual's process of self-acceptance. This qualitative descriptive study used a phenomenological design to understand self-acceptance among individuals with permanent disability. Two respondents were purposively selected: a burn-injury survivor with permanent facial and bodily disfigurement (TM) and a survivor of violence-induced blindness (BS). Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Trustworthiness was established through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Both respondents initially experienced shock, grief, and diminished self-confidence. TM continued to show barriers to self-acceptance such as shame, social withdrawal, and dependency, with spirituality not yet fully internalized as a coping resource, whereas BS demonstrated a more adaptive process supported by family support, social acceptance, increased religious practice, and the ability to interpret his affliction as a test from Allah SWT. The study concludes that patience (sabr), gratitude (syukur), acceptance of divine decree (ridha), and reliance on God (tawakal) are interrelated components of the psychological mechanism underlying self-acceptance among people with permanent disability.
