Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of live streaming sermons as an effort to build congregational spirituality. This study uses a literature study method to explore the urgency of sermons in strengthening the faith and spirituality of congregations, especially in the era of digital society. Through a review of various studies, this article presents two important aspects: first, the role of sermons in shaping a deeper understanding and practice of spirituality, and second, the church's response to changes in the social and technological context, including the phenomenon of live streaming sermons. The importance of sermons in guiding, inspiring, and deepening the faith of congregations is evident in various studies that highlight their positive effects in building spirituality, both in the millennial and Z generations and in Christians in general. Meanwhile, the church's adaptation to technological challenges has given rise to the phenomenon of live streaming sermons, which offer new flexibility and accessibility in worship, but also raise considerations related to personal interaction and the sustainability of the values of the spiritual community. In this context, this article emphasizes that sermons remain a vital instrument in building Christian spirituality, while adaptation to changes in the times and technology is a challenge that must be overcome wisely. Thus, sermons are not only a means of conveying spiritual messages, but also an opportunity to deepen the worship experience and expand the reach of church services in this digital era.

Abstract

This study proposes a critical reconstruction of preaching as an evangelistic strategy by synthesizing homiletical and missiological frameworks within the missio Dei paradigm. It addresses the long-standing disciplinary fragmentation between homiletics and missiology. This fragmentation signals a crisis of homiletical identity, manifested in two forms: ecclesial introversion—namely, an excessive inward focus on congregational maintenance—and pragmatic functionalism, which reduces preaching to a mere instrument for mobilizing church activities. Such a condition is profoundly detrimental to the contemporary church, as it results in kerygmatic stagnation.  This research employs a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review (SLR) design based on the PRISMA protocol. The data consist of scholarly publications from the period 2011–2025, analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The urgency of this research stems from the necessity of radical integration to prevent preaching from losing its prophetic edge and devolving into mere moralistic rhetoric in a fragmented public square.  The findings indicate: (1) a conceptual gap between homiletics and missiology; (2) the absence of a systematic formulation of preaching as an evangelistic praxis within the missio Dei; and (3) the dominance of descriptive approaches in contemporary homiletical studies. This research culminates in a novel integrative model that bridges the gap between textual fidelity and missional relevance, offering a transformative praxis for the contemporary church.

Abstract

The phenomenon of progressive Christianity has become a serious concern within Indonesian Christianity because it introduces theological perspectives and evangelistic practices that differ from conservative Christian traditions, particularly regarding the exclusive understanding of salvation. This article formulates the following research questions: how is the evangelistic style of progressive Christianity developed, and why does it pose a challenge to conservative Christian evangelism? The urgency of this study lies in the church’s need to respond to shifts in evangelistic approaches that are increasingly contextual and socially oriented. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method through the analysis of theological literature. The findings indicate that progressive Christianity promotes a holistic model of evangelism that emphasizes relationships, dialogue, and social justice, with minimal emphasis on personal conversion. In conclusion, conservative Christian evangelism needs to formulate contextual strategies without obscuring the core message of the Gospel. This study recommends strengthening theological foundations while cultivating social sensitivity in evangelistic practice.

Abstract

The presence of the Holy Spirit in Christian ministry, especially in the context of anointed preaching, has a profound and transformational role. This study aims to explore how the Holy Spirit influences the quality and effectiveness of preaching in the context of the contemporary church. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examines the perceptions and experiences of preachers and congregations regarding the anointing of the Holy Spirit in preaching. The results show that the anointing of the Holy Spirit strengthens the power of the proclamation of God's Word, increases the understanding and acceptance of the congregation, and brings about significant spiritual change. This study also identifies the variability of the anointing experience, which is influenced by the preacher's personal factors, spiritual preparation, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. In conclusion, this study confirms that the anointing of the Holy Spirit is a critical factor in effective preaching ministry, which requires full dependence on divine power to influence and change the lives of the congregation. Through anointed preaching, the church can realize living and powerful teaching, which influences and shapes Christians to become more mature in faith and love.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the Holy Spirit’s role in evangelism through a biblical pneumatological approach. The method employed is qualitative descriptive with a literature study of biblical texts and relevant theological sources. The findings reveal that the Holy Spirit is the primary agent in evangelism, working comprehensively in three phases: pre-evangelism, the evangelistic process, and post-evangelism. In the pre-evangelism phase, the Holy Spirit prepares human hearts and initiates divine mission. During the evangelistic process, the Spirit guides evangelists, grants boldness, and convicts individuals of sin. In the post-evangelism phase, the Spirit seals believers, performs regeneration, and guides spiritual growth. These findings affirm that the effectiveness of evangelism does not rely on human ability but on the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit’s work. This study contributes to a more holistic pneumatological framework of mission theology.
