Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the interpretation and practice of Qur'anic verses related to the concept of wasilah within the spiritual life of the Naqshbandi suluk community in West Pasaman Regency. Employing the Living Qur’an approach, this research seeks to explore how the sacred text of the Qur’an is not only read and understood theoretically but also actualized in tangible ritual and spiritual experiences within the Sufi order. The main focus of this study is the community’s interpretation of two Qur’anic verses Surah Al-Mā’idah [5]:35 and Surah Al-Isrā’ [17]:57 and how the meanings of these verses are internalized and applied across various aspects of spiritual life, including in the spiritual literature used by the followers. This research adopts a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, allowing the researcher to understand the subjective religious experiences of the participants. The findings reveal that wasilah is understood as a means of drawing closer to Allah through the guidance of a murshid, the practice of dhikr, and a consistent and structured journey of self-purification through suluk practices.

Abstract

This study examines the position of women in the Islamic social structure through the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an related to the family, a rich and complex topic covering domestic roles to public participation. The main focus is the interpretation of Surah An-Nisa' verse 34 regarding men as “qawwam” (leaders or those responsible) for women. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, collecting data from books, journals, and other relevant documents. This study shows that scholars such as Al-Thabari, Al-Qurthubi, Ibn Kathir, Fakhruddin Al-Razi, and Al-Baghawi explain that “qawwam” refers to the responsibility of men to protect and provide for the family, not absolute superiority or the revocation of women's rights. Steps to deal with “nusyuz” (disobedience) of wives, such as advice, separation from bed, and light beatings, must be carried out gradually, without excessive violence, and as a last resort to maintain household harmony. Overall, the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an shows that Islam places women in a noble position with balanced rights and responsibilities, covering the domestic and public spheres, which requires a comprehensive and contextual understanding so that Islamic values remain relevant and answer contemporary challenges. The novelty of this research lies in emphasizing the balance of the role of “qawwam” as a leadership responsibility rather than absolute superiority, as well as the dynamic public participation of women.

Abstract

The rapid growth of online commerce has led to an increasing reliance on courier services as a means of delivering goods from sellers to consumers. In practice, however, damage to goods during the shipping process continues to occur, resulting in financial losses for consumers. This study aims to analyze the liability of J&T Express for damaged goods during the delivery process in Medan Tembung District and to examine it from the perspective of DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 146/DSN-MUI/XII/2021 concerning Online Shops. This research employs an empirical juridical method using statutory and sociological approaches. Primary data were collected through interviews with J&T Express representatives and consumers using delivery services in Medan Tembung District, while secondary data were obtained from legislation, the DSN-MUI Fatwa, books, and relevant scientific journals. The findings indicate that J&T Express implements its liability mechanism by providing compensation for goods that are damaged or lost during the delivery process, subject to the company's terms and conditions. However, in practice, compensation is not always provided in full, particularly when the goods are uninsured or when the damage is considered to have resulted from external factors, such as inadequate packaging. From the perspective of Islamic law, based on DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 146/DSN-MUI/XII/2021, courier companies acting as agents under the wakālah bil ujrah contract are obligated to safeguard the trust entrusted to them and are liable for any damage caused by negligence. Therefore, greater implementation of the principles of liability and consumer protection is necessary to ensure fair, secure, and legally compliant delivery service practices in accordance with both positive law and Sharia principles.
