Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of moral decadence and the challenges of globalization that demand strengthening of students' character through religious education. The purpose of this research is to analyze the strategy and effectiveness of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers in integrating religious culture as an instrument for developing students' morals. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through participant observation, documentation studies, and in-depth interviews with 22 informants consisting of school principals, teachers, students, parents, and alumni. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions according to the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The strategy of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers is carried out through the creation of a religious school ecosystem (school culture) as a hidden curriculum through tadarus activities, congregational prayers, and Al-Qur'an literacy; (2) The effectiveness of moral development is highly dependent on the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers as uswah hasanah (life role models) and humanistic personal mentors; (3) Internalization of values ​​occurs through a habituation process that transforms verbalistic religious understanding into real actions; (4) Synergy between schools and parents, as well as the use of information technology, is a strategic solution to overcome the obstacle of value contamination from social media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation and implications of Religious Moderation in the context of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in State Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Tana Toraja Regency. Qualitative research using a pedagogical approach. The data sources in the study came from interviews, while the interviewed parties were, While secondary data were taken from documents related to the research. The results of the study indicate that religious moderation in the environment of Tana Toraja State Vocational High Schools has been formed indirectly (implicitly) and firmly. This is evidenced by the existence of respect for individual rights in religion, where there is no coercion, as well as the existence of strong tolerance practices that are harmoniously interwoven across various lines, from the family, school, to the community. A key factor supporting the successful implementation of religious moderation in PAI learning at Tana Toraja State Vocational High Schools is the strong accommodation of local wisdom of the local community. This local wisdom significantly influences and is integrated into the curriculum of educational institutions. In addition, the high level of social solidarity between religious communities in Toraja is also a supporting pillar. Thus, religious moderation indirectly has positive implications for Islamic religious education at Tana Toraja Regency State Vocational High Schools, reinforcing inclusive and harmonious values ​​in students' character development.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of instilling the values ​​of religious moderation in the madrasa environment to protect students from the currents of extremism and intolerance in the digital era. The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the planning, implementation, evaluation, and impact of Akidah Akhlak learning in strengthening religious moderation in the State Madrasah Aliyah (MAN) Palopo. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research (field research). Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, passive participant observation, and documentation studies, with data analysis techniques that include data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that: (1) The planning of Akidah Akhlak learning was designed collaboratively by integrating wasathiyah (moderate) values ​​into the learning tools; (2) The implementation of learning applies critical dialogue methods, problem solving, and the habituation of inclusive and tolerant attitudes; (3) Evaluation was carried out comprehensively by combining cognitive assessment and affective observation to measure students' moderation attitudes; and (4) The impact of this program is able to increase inclusive religious understanding, reduce the potential for exclusivism, and shape the character of students who have noble morals and are harmonious in social life.
