Abstract

This study aims to explore strategic management practices and analyze their contribution to the effectiveness of academic services in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The focus of the study includes the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of strategies and their relationship to the quality of academic services, such as consistency, assurance, responsiveness, empathy, and tangibles. The study used a case study design with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through structured interviews with the principal, vice principal, teachers, religious teachers (ustadz/ustadzah), and academic staff, as well as observations of learning and dormitory activities. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions with source triangulation to ensure data validity. The results of the study indicate that strategic management implemented collaboratively can improve the effectiveness of academic services. The strategy formulation involving stakeholders resulted in an integrated vision and mission between the Merdeka Curriculum and the Islamic boarding school curriculum. The strategy implementation supports holistic learning, while periodic evaluation encourages continuous improvement despite limitations in technology and measurable performance indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze public relations (PR) management in enhancing the image of Permata Nusantara Madani Islamic Boarding School amid the transition of its funding system from free to fee-based. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving school leaders, PR officers, parents, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to obtain a comprehensive understanding. The results indicate that the success of PR is supported by three main aspects: core knowledge, shared expectations, and participatory culture. Core knowledge is reflected in the ability to understand internal and external conditions and to manage communication risks strategically and systematically, while shared expectations are evident in the alignment between leadership and PR in delivering policy messages consistently, clearly, and persuasively to the public. Participatory culture is manifested through open, dialogic, and responsive communication with parents and the wider community, supported by persuasive approaches based on trust, transparency, and accountability. The findings show that the change in the funding system does not diminish the institution’s image; instead, it enhances public trust, as indicated by the increasing number of students and community support.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) in educational strategy management and its effectiveness in enhancing institutional competitiveness at SMA Negeri 6 Kerinci and MAN 3 Kerinci. The study employs a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design. Data were collected through structured interviews with school/madrasah principals and vice principals, as well as through observation and documentation. Analysis was conducted descriptively based on the four BSC perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth. The results indicate that SMA Negeri 6 Kerinci has a more integrated BSC implementation, particularly in resource management, promotional strategies, and the use of adaptive learning technologies grounded in interactive pedagogical practices. Conversely, MAN 3 Kerinci demonstrated strengths in religious character development and the development of a web-based digital learning ecosystem that contributes to enhancing teacher professionalism, although it still faces limitations in the areas of promotion, internal coordination, and strategy integration. The novelty of this study lies in the differences in technology integration models within the BSC framework, namely the adaptive-cultural approach at SMA Negeri 6 Kerinci and the centralized digital system at MAN 3 Kerinci, which confirms that the effectiveness of the BSC is determined by the integration of strategies and technological innovation.
