Abstract

The value of Rahmatan lil 'alamin in Islamic creed emphasizes compassion, justice, and protection for all beings, including children as a vulnerable group. This study aims to analyze the role of child protection institutions as an implementation of the value of Rahmatan lil 'alamin from the perspective of Islamic aqidah. The research uses a qualitative approach through library research by examining relevant literature on Islamic creed and child protection. The findings indicate that child protection institutions play an important role in realizing the value of compassion through efforts to prevent violence, fulfill children's rights, and provide legal and social protection. This implementation shows that child protection is not only a social and legal obligation but also has a theological foundation in Islam as a manifestation of mercy for all creation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the philosophical thought of Alfred North Whitehead, a prominent figure in contemporary philosophy, employing the method of biographical study of thinkers. Alfred North Whitehead (1861–1947), an English mathematician and philosopher, is renowned for his theory of “process philosophy.” The core elements of his thought emphasize that reality is not static but is constituted by processes of “becoming,” actual entities, and universal interconnectedness. The implications of his ideas have significantly influenced fields such as metaphysics, theology, ethics, and ecology. The rationale for this research lies in the ongoing relevance of Whitehead's concepts for the development of contemporary philosophy. The findings reveal that Whitehead's thought offers an alternative paradigm that is highly contextual. In conclusion, his contributions enrich the understanding of contemporary reality.

Abstract

This study examines how the understanding of destiny (takdir) is expressed through work ethic and social behavior in Tegal Sari Village, Dolok Masihul District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The study addresses three questions: how residents understand destiny, how Islamic work ethic appears in everyday work, and how this understanding affects social attitudes. A descriptive qualitative field-research design was used. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving six informants representing three families, supported by information from religious and community figures. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. The findings indicate that the dominant pattern is moderate: Allah is recognized as the ultimate determinant of outcomes, while human beings remain responsible for ikhtiar and are expected to practice tawakkal after making an effort. Work ethic is manifested in diligence, discipline, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, planning, and adaptation to economic and environmental changes. The understanding of destiny also supports humility, gratitude, mutual assistance, community harmony, sharing, and the provision of employment opportunities. The study concludes that belief in destiny does not inherently produce passivity. When combined with effort, evaluation, and tawakkal, it can function as a source of spiritual resilience and constructive Islamic work ethic.
