Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the habituation method in increasing the independence of children with special needs. The habituation method, which involves repetition, consistency, and positive reinforcement, has been widely applied in various educational and therapeutic contexts for children with special needs. The research methodology uses a one-group pre-test-post-test design. A total of 30 children with special needs from three inclusive schools in Madiun participated in this study. The results of this study include the design of the habituation method carried out in several steps with a focus on how to accustom children with special needs to their respective levels of independence, especially in daily life. Steps that can be taken in designing the habituation method to increase the independence of children with special needs include creating lesson plans (RPPH) tailored to independence indicators, which are then assessed through observation supervised by their teachers. Changes in the independence of early childhood using the habituation method were observed. There is effectiveness in children's independence with the habituation method. However, a deeper empirical evaluation is still needed to ensure the benefits and effectiveness of this method.

Abstract

Career maturity is an important aspect of students’ readiness to transition from higher education to the world of work. Final-year students in Guidance and Counseling programs are expected to possess adequate career maturity because they will enter professional roles that require competence in assisting others with personal, social, academic, and career development. However, some students may still experience difficulties in understanding their potential, exploring career alternatives, making career decisions, and preparing realistic career plans. This study aims to describe the career maturity of final-year students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving final-year students as research participants. Data were collected using a career maturity instrument based on the dimensions of career exploration, career planning, decision making, and preparation for the transition to work. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to determine the level and distribution of students’ career maturity. The results showed that the career maturity of final-year students was at the (high/moderate/low) level, with variations across the measured dimensions. The findings indicate the need for systematic career guidance and counseling programs to strengthen students’ career planning, decision-making, exploration, and readiness for professional transition.
